* Forecast...The River will continue rising to near 19.5 feet by this
  morning. The river will fall below flood stage this morning.
* At stages near 20.0 feet...Between 20 and 23 feet, basements in 
  Clendenin businessess are flooded.  State Route 4 floods above and 
  below Clendenin and Queen Shoals.  Abandoned church opposite side 
  of the river from the gaugehouse starts to flood. A dip in Valley 
  View Drive starts to flood.

.SYNOPSIS...
Cold front slowly pushes to the east this evening. Unsettled
weather for midweek. Focus then turns to Hurricane Florence by
late in the week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TODAY/...
As of 1028 PM Monday...

Inherited forecast remains on track with no changes needed at
this time.

As of 245 PM Monday...

A cold front will continue pushing slowly eastward this evening,
providing some showers over central and eastern WV and southwestern
VA. Can't rule out a thunderstorm as well over the mountains.
Fortunately, the mountains have not received as much rain as
other areas over the last few days, so the threat of flooding is
much lower.

A high pressure system will then build in on Tuesday. However, some
low level moisture will remain over the mountains, so can't
rule out a few light showers.

.SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/...
As of 505 PM Monday...

Fairly quiet through the short term period. Troughing remains
over the Eastern Mountains through Thursday and this area will
be the focus for afternoon showers and storms to develop each
day. Areas west of the Ohio River should remain mostly dry with
weak surface ridging setting up on Wednesday over the Ohio
Valley.

Current NHC track for Florence keeps it far enough away at this
point and if we do see any impacts, they will come later in the
forecast period.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...
As of 520 PM Monday...

As last forecast discussion mentioned, the long term is going
to be dependent on what Florence decides to do. Confidence
remains quite low at this time where exactly Florence will make
landfall and where it tracks thereafter. GFS/Euro and ensembles
are still showing a wide spread at this time, and until the
guidance comes into a little better agreement, the impacts we
will see from Florence are unknown.

There is potential for a high end hydro event for our forecast
area and everyone should at least start preparing for this
possibility. At this time, a landfall on the East Coast is
looking likely, but where it makes landfall and how far inland
the remnants make it inland will determine how significant
rainfall amounts will be.

As of 135 AM Tuesday...

Deterioration of flight rules expected overnight as temps
continue to cool and the airmass in the lowest 100mb becomes
saturated. Result should be widespread stratus with CIGs at IFR
or worse levels...along with poor VSBYs.

VSBYs should improve rather fast after sunrise Tues morning,
but CIGs will be slow to rise/mix out during the day...but an
improvement to MVFR should be common by mid to late morning.
Some llvl mixing should occur in the afternoon with VFR not out
of the question (will maintain MVFR for now until certainty in
VFR increases).

Few SHRA possible overnight KBKW as a surface front continues to
slowly shift east. Elsewhere, -DZRA possible at times.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE AND ALTERNATE SCENARIOS THROUGH 06Z WEDNESDAY...

ALTERNATE SCENARIOS: Visibilities may lower faster than expected
overnight. A slower improvement is also a concern for Tuesday
