...A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY DOWNPOURS WILL AFFECT ANSON
AND STANLY COUNTIES UNTIL 1045 PM EDT...
At 942 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of thunderstorms
with heavy rain along a line extending from near Monroe to near
Pageland to 10 miles west of Clyde. Movement was northeast at 25 mph.
Wind gusts up to 40 mph will be possible with these storms.
Heavy rain and minor flooding will also be possible with these
storms.
Locations impacted include...
Albemarle, Wadesboro, Ansonville, Plyler, Fairview In Union County,
Polkton, Locust, Norwood, Oakboro and Stanfield.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Seek shelter in a nearby building or vehicle. Wind gusts as high as
40 mph are capable of knocking down shallow rooted trees since the
ground is nearly saturated.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
