* Flash Flood Warning for...
East central Custer County in southeastern Colorado...
West central Pueblo County in southeastern Colorado...
* Until 900 PM MDT.
* At 606 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain moving over the Junkins burn scar. Flash flooding is
expected to begin shortly.
* Flash flooding is expected over the Junkins burn scar in east
central Custer and west central Pueblo Counties. Excessive
rainfall over the entire burn scar will result in debris flows.
The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other
loose materials.

rain across the Junkins burn scar. Flash flooding is expected over
and near the burn scar.

THE JUNKINS BURN SCAR IN EAST CENTRAL CUSTER AND WEST CENTRAL
PUEBLO COUNTIES...
At 635 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across mainly southern portions of the Junkins burn scar. Radar
is estimating that around one inch of rain has already fallen over
the western half of the burn scar, and up to one-half inch over
eastern portions of the scar. Flash flooding is expected.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains

At 650 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated that rain had mostly ended
over the Junkins burn scar. However, radar estimates that an inch
or more of rain may have fallen over western portions of the burn
scar, with a little more than one-half inch over some of the eastern
portions of the burn scar. Flash flooding is expected to continue.
This includes the following streams and drainages...Bishop Creek...
Junkins Park Creek...South Fork North Hardscrabble Creek...and
Middle Hardscrabble Creek.

At 727 PM MDT, local law enforcement reported flooding over Highway
165 in Custer county, and that the highway has been closed. Flash
flooding is expected to continue over and near the Junkins burn scar
due to the heavy rain that occurred earlier this evening.
This includes, but is not limited to, the following streams and
drainages...Bishop Creek... Junkins Park Creek...South Fork North
Hardscrabble Creek...Middle Hardscrabble Creek.

At 815 PM MDT, flooding was still occurring in and near the Junkins
burn scar, from the heavy rain that occurred earlier this evening.
Law enforcement and trained spotters reported debris and water flows
over Highway 165 in Custer county, and the highway remains closed.
Flash flooding is expected to continue.
This includes, but is not limited to, the following streams and
drainages...Bishop Creek... Junkins Park Creek...South Fork North
Hardscrabble Creek and Middle Hardscrabble Creek.
