.SYNOPSIS...Upper low over the region will keep daytime highs
unseasonably cool with temperatures generally in the 60s with
lower 70s for the warmest interior valleys. This pattern stays in
place through Saturday. On Sunday the upper low ejects inland but
no big changes. A secondary cool trough drops down the coast early
next week keeping temperatures unseasonably cool with some warming
expected by the middle or latter part of next week.

.DISCUSSION...as of 1:39 PM PDT Friday...Visible satellite
imagery is showing partly to mostly cloudy skies across the
northern half of the district and mostly sunny skies across the
south. Afternoon temperatures are running in the lower to mid 60s
in most spots, generally warmer than yesterday at this time.
Expect clouds to increase across the north as an upper low nears
the coast overnight and tomorrow. There is a slight chance of
showers across the extreme North Bay late tonight into Saturday,
but the main area of rain will be farther north, closer to the low
center as it tracks inland over Oregon.
After this upper low moves inland, another upper level trough is
forecast to sweep down the coast early next week. Any
precipitation associated with this system is forecast to remain
farther to the east. However, this will enhance onshore flow for
continued seasonably cool temperatures through early next week.
A ridge is then forecast to build in over California after
midweek resulting in warmer temperatures, especially inland areas
where highs warming to the 70s to mid 80s by the end of next
week.

.AVIATION...As of 4:40 PM PDT Thursday. For 00Z TAFs. Upper low
approaching the southern coast of Oregon has disrupted the marine
layer and current sky cover consists mostly of scattered cumulus
clouds. Expect low cloud cover to become more widespread overnight
as the low levels become cooler and more stable, and as moist
onshore flow persists. MVFR ceilings likely to develop at most
terminals between 06Z and 12Z. Transition back to VFR conditions
by around 17Z Saturday. Light to moderate westerly winds. Shower
activity triggered by upper low late tonight and Saturday expected
to remain north of terminals, except a few showers are possible
Saturday in vicinity of KSTS.
Vicinity of KSFO...VFR conditions expected to prevail through
evening rush. MVFR ceilings forecast to develop around 12Z and
continue through 17Z Saturday. Westerly winds around 15 kts early
this evening and then again by late Saturday afternoon.
SFO Bridge Approach...Similar to KSFO.
Monterey Bay Terminals...VFR conditions expected through early
evening. MVFR ceilings then forecast to develop around 07Z and
continue through about 17Z Saturday. Light west to southwest
winds.

.MARINE...As of 2:14 PM PDT Friday...Generally light winds are
expected over the coastal waters this evening, though locally
breezy conditions with winds in excess of 20 kt may develop along
parts of the Big Sur coast. Light to moderate seas will continue
through the forecast period with a mixed south and northwest swell
into the weekend.
