FOR NORTHEASTERN GREEN LAKE COUNTY...

At 944 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Green Lake, or
near Berlin, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

WILL EXPIRE AT 1000 PM CDT...
        
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and has exited the warned area. Therefore, the warning will
be allowed to expire.  However gusty winds are still possible with
this thunderstorm.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM CDT for
south central Wisconsin.

.UPDATE...

Zero to 1 km CAPE is around 1200 joules/kg west areas. CAPE lowers
to 700 joules/kg off RAP soundings by 9 pm, with fairly high based
storms indicated. There is around 27 knots of zero to 2 km shear.
Therefore severe storms will be possible, and latest HRRR model
runs do bring fairly strong storms into the north and west areas
this evening.

.AVIATION(00Z TAFS)...

A cold front will move through this evening bringing some showers
and thunderstorms with it. The best chance is in west and north
areas of the forecast area with less of a chance in far southeast
WI. Expect cloud bases around 7kt with MVFR or IFR
ceilings.Visibilities within any thunderstorms.

There is the possibility of some MVFR ceilings for a time early
Thursday morning in eastern Wisconsin. Some clearing is likely
late Thursday morning then scattered to broken clouds around 4 to
5kft are likely.

SHORT TERM...
Forecast Period...Tonight and Thursday...Forecast Confidence is
Medium...

Thunderstorms have started to develop near the surface front in
Minnesota. This is the line we are expecting to move through
southern Wisconsin this evening that may bring some severe
thunderstorms. Showers are struggling to develop ahead of it in
SE Minnesota and in the La Crosse area. There is some clearing in
that region that may move into south- west and south-central WI
late this afternoon which will bring cape upwards of 1500 J with
30 to 40 knots of deep layer shear. If anything does develop ahead
of the front late this afternoon we'll have to keep an eye on it
for severe potential, mainly north of Madison. Otherwise expect
scattered thunderstorms to push across southern WI this evening.
The best chance for anything severe is north of Madison to West
Bend. Storms are expected to weaken as they move toward southeast
WI.

The nose of the low level jet is into western WI and low level
warm air advection is expected to increase across our area this
evening. The front will push through during the evening, which is
the focus for the thunderstorms. During this time a shortwave
will be moving through central WI making the set up a little more
favorable to our north but the left exit region of an upper jet
will be over southern WI. Instability will decrease later this
evening but shear will remain elevated so strong storms are still
possible although less likely.

Showers and any remaining thunderstorms are expected to exit
southeast WI after midnight as the front and upper forcing
departs. Cyclonic flow will remain through Thursday with an upper
low to our north. Lapse rates will be steep with a little low
level moisture to have low precip chances during the afternoon.
Cooler temperatures will be in place.

LONG TERM...
Friday... Forecast confidence is medium.

The closed upper low will hang out over southern Ontario through
Friday. Steep low level lapse rates and a weak embedded trough
will swing through southern WI which could allow for a few
showers over southeast WI during the afternoon.

Saturday through Sunday... Forecast confidence is medium.

We will remain in a general trough pattern over the weekend and
likely into early next week. A shortwave trough will slide through
Iowa/southern WI and northern IL. Upper divergence, daytime
heating and warm air advection will aid in the forcing, so there
is a chance for showers and thunderstorms late Saturday afternoon
through the night. While shower chances linger Sunday morning,
there is a little better chance during the afternoon with diurnal
heating. The showers should be scattered, so not expecting an
all-day rain, although there are model differences about this. A
few rumbles of thunder are also possible.

Monday through Wednesday... Forecast confidence is medium.

We could see some light rain showers again Monday afternoon as
that upper trough lingers over eastern WI and Lake Michigan. It
looks like we will be in between troughs briefly on Tuesday, so
that might be our quiet weather day. Weak forcing and general
daytime-heating related instability could allow for more showers
on Wednesday afternoon.

AVIATION(21Z TAFS)...
A cold front will move through this evening bringing some showers
and thunderstorms with it. The best chance is in southwest and
south-central WI with less of a chance in far southeast WI. Expect
cloud bases around 7kt with MVFR or IFR ceilings within any
thunderstorms.

There is the possibility of some MVFR ceilings for a time early
Thursday morning in eastern Wisconsin. Some clearing is likely
late Thursday morning then scattered to broken clouds around 4 to
5kft are likely. Winds will be northwest with a few gusts
possible.

MARINE...
A cold front will move through tonight bringing showers and
thunderstorms late this evening and overnight. Gusty winds are
possible. Otherwise wind and waves will remain below small craft
levels for the next several days.
