This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of eastern and
central Missouri as well as west central and southwest Illinois.

.DAY ONE...Late this afternoon and tonight

Heat index values of 100 to 107 degrees are occurring this
afternoon across parts of Missouri and Illinois. A Heat Advisory
is in effect through 8 PM CDT for these areas.

Scattered thunderstorms have developed across the area this
afternoon and will continue this evening. A few storms may be
strong to severe and capable of producing hail and damaging wind
gusts.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday

There is a chance of thunderstorms for portions of the area from
Sunday through Monday night. There is also a chance of
thunderstorms from Wednesday through Friday.

EAST CENTRAL MISSOURI AND ST. LOUIS CITY UNTIL 615 PM CDT...

At 523 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from Bel-Nor to Mehlville. Movement was east at 35
mph.

Dime size hail and wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph will be possible with
these storms.

Locations impacted include...
St. Louis, Florissant, Belleville, University City, Granite City,
O'Fallon, Kirkwood, Maryland Heights, East St. Louis, Hazelwood,
Collinsville, Edwardsville, Webster Groves, Ferguson, Arnold, Creve
Coeur, Fairview Heights, Overland, Clayton and Cahokia.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 70 in Illinois between exits 21 and 24.
 Interstate 55 in Illinois between exits 23 and 33.
 Interstate 64 in Illinois between exits 9 and 27.
 Interstate 44 in Missouri between exits 276 and 277.
 Interstate 55 in Missouri between exits 190 and 191.
 Interstate 70 in Missouri near exit 231.

This also includes  Scott Joplin Historic Site and Horseshoe Lake
State Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
