.DISCUSSION...A line of strong storms continues to push south and
east across lower Acadiana this morning. No warnings are
currently in effect, however gusty winds, frequent lightning, and
heavy rain fall will continue as the line pushes toward the coast.
A severe thunderstorm watch continues until 5AM for a portion of
the area.

A much colder air mass will spill into the region today behind a
cold front. Temperatures are expected to drop through the day with
upper 40s to mid 50s area wide by sunset. The pressure gradient
will also tighten today as a ridge builds in. Gusty north winds
will build and a wind adv is in effect for a portion of the
region. Winds will relax around sunset or soon thereafter. A few
showers will remain possible through the day, but any accumulation
behind the main line will be minimal.

Low temperatures tonight will run 10 to 15 degrees below normal,
however the chilly temperatures will be short lived as the ridge
will quickly shift east and start a return flow Sunday. Another
cold front will push through the area late Monday with a few
showers and perhaps a thunderstorm possible ahead of the boundary.
A modest cool down is expected behind the front.

A return flow will again set up Wednesday through the end of the
week as high pressure departs and a low develops over the plains.

.MARINE...Strong north winds will develop over the coastal waters
today behind a front. A small craft adv is in effect for this
afternoon through much of tonight for the gulf waters. Winds will
become onshore Sunday as the ridge departs and another cold front
approaches.
