.Areas of dense sea fog will continue over the coastal waters
this morning and continue through mid-morning as warm, moist air
is transported over the cooler waters. Visibilities below one
nautical mile to at times one quarter nautical mile or less is
expected before dissipating by mid-morning Thursday.

Tonight a strong cold front will move through the coastal waters
with winds increasing to 20 to 30 knots with gusts higher. Seas
building through the evening into the overnight hours.

Wx map shows southeast flow continuing with lowering ceilings and
areas of dense fog developing over Central and Southern Louisiana
and adjacent coastal waters this evening. The dense fog is expected
to eventually spread westward towards Western Louisiana and Southeast
Texas after midnight per latest HRRR, GFS & NAM guidance. A dense
fog advisory issued for all Louisiana zones and Jefferson/Orange
in Southeast Texas through 15z or 9 AM CST.

Areas of dense sea fog will continue to develop over the coastal
waters tonight and continue through mid-morning Thursday as warm,
moist air is transported over the cooler waters. Visibilities
below one nautical mile to at times one quarter nautical mile or
less is expected before dissipating by mid-morning Thursday. The
dense fog advisory advanced from now through 9 am.

For the winds behind the strong cold front, a Gale Watch is issued for
20 to 60 nautical mile zones west of Intracoastal City from
Thursday evening through Friday morning. Latest guidance continues
to show northwest winds 30+ knots with gusts to around 45 knots
across these zones. If the next model cycle overnight continues
these winds, this will likely be upgraded to a Gale Warning, as
well as the remainder of the coastal marine zones under Small
Craft Advisory.

after sunset to IFR or LIFR. LIFR conditions are expected to
prevail past midnight through sunrise. Conditions will gradually
improve through mid day Thursday, however thunderstorms will move
through the area.

DISCUSSION...

An upper level shortwave trough currently over the Southwest will
approach the region late tonight and move through during the day
tomorrow. Onshore flow is expected to contribute to the
development of advection fog late this evening and continue
through the morning hours.

The cold front association with the upper level trough is forecast
to progress across the CWA from late tomorrow morning and exiting
the region by late tomorrow evening. This will result in rain
being likely for most of the region after 12 PM Thursday. Despite
the ongoing return flow, the majority of model guidance is
indicating that atmospheric destabilization will be rather limited
in advance of the cold front. Therefore, severe weather is not
expected with any of the thunderstorms that develop along the cold
front. However, with deep layer wind layer wind shear exceeding 35
knots across much of the region, any of the more organized storms
could produce gusty winds.

In the wake of the front, much cooler and drier conditions are
expected as a continental polar airmass filters into the region.
Another front is forecast to approach the region late Monday into
Tuesday next week. Given the lack of deep layer moisture, there
will only be a slight chance, if any at all, of precipitation with
the passage of this front.

MARINE...

Areas of sea fog are expected to develop over the coastal waters
tonight and continue through mid-morning Thursday as warm, moist
air is transported over the cooler waters. The densest fog is
expected to develop between 9 PM and 12 AM and persist through
mid-morning on Thursday.

A strong cold front is forecast to sweep through the coastal
waters Thursday afternoon and evening, bringing a chance of
showers and thunderstorms followed by rough seas and strong and
gusty northwest winds. Small Craft Advisory conditions are
expected with gusts to gale force possible Thursday night into
Friday morning. A modest offshore flow will persist through the
weekend. The prolonged period of offshore flow will likely result
in Low Water conditions during periods of low tide starting Friday
morning and continuing through the weekend.
