...A Flood Warning continues for the following rivers and streams 
in Indiana...

  Big Walnut Creek...Driftwood River...East Fork White River...Eel 
  River...Muscatatuck River...Wabash River...White River...Youngs 
  Creek...

.Extensive river flooding will be develop in southern Indiana by the
weekend and continue into the first week of April.  Significant
flooding will occur in a few areas.  Flood crests will be a few feet
lower than those of late February and early March.  The worst
flooding will be along the White...East Fork White and the Wabash
Rivers in the Mount Carmel and New Harmony areas. 

Lesser flooding will occur along the Wabash River in western Indiana
and the White River in central Indiana.  Rivers will approach and/or
crest a few feet above flood stage.

Three fourths to over two inches of rain has fallen from late
Monday night through early Wednesday afternoon in much of central
and southern Indiana. The heaviest rain fell in western Indiana. An
additional 1 to 2 inches will fall in southern Indiana on Thursday.

Early Wednesday afternoon rivers were at bankfull levels and rising
in western...central and southern Indiana.  Small streams were near
crests in most areas. 

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  Crawford County Illinois are impassable.

  behind Illinois levees extending from Russellville to U.S. Highway 
  50.  Flooding of agricultural land begins in Knox County Indiana 
  west of the railroad extending for the Oaktown area to the north

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers 
in Indiana...

  Driftwood River...East Fork White River...Eel River...Muscatatuck 
  River...Wabash River...White River...



.Extensive river flooding will develop in southern Indiana by the
weekend and continue into the first week of April.  Significant
flooding will occur in a few areas.  Flood crests will be a few feet
lower than those of late February and early March.  The worst
flooding will be along the White...East Fork White and the Wabash
Rivers in the Mount Carmel and New Harmony areas. 

Lesser flooding will occur along the Wabash River in western Indiana
and the White River in central Indiana.  Rivers will approach and/or
crest a few feet above flood stage.

Three fourths of an inch to over two inches of rain has fallen
between late Monday night through early Wednesday afternoon in
much of central and southern Indiana. The heaviest rain fell in
western Indiana. An additional 1 to 2 inches will fall in southern
Indiana on Thursday.

Late Wednesday evening rivers were in flood in western Indiana.
Rivers in central and south central Indiana were bankfull.  Creeks
were were below flood stage, and those that were in action stage
were falling.

More rainfall, largely late tonight and Thursday, will be moving into
Indiana and give to additional rises on rivers and creeks. Please
keep abreast of changing hydrologic conditions.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers 
in Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Muscatatuck River...Wabash River...White 
  River...


.Extensive river flooding will be limited to southwest Indiana
and southeast Illinois in the days ahead.  Heavy rainfall did not
develop Wednesday night in southern Indiana.  As a result...lower
flood crests are expected.  The highest crests above flood stage
will be in the Edwardsport...Petersburg...Hazleton and Mount Carmel
areas where crests will be 4 to 6 feet above flood stage.

Early Thursday afternoon lowland flooding and near bankfull
conditions prevailed along the East Fork White...White...Muscatatuck
and Wabash Rivers in southern and western Indiana.  Rivers levels
continued to slowly rise in most areas.

Rainfall of generally less than one-half inch fell in most central
and southern Indiana areas since Wednesday morning.  Rainfall
through the remainder of Thursday and into early Friday morning will
be less than one inch in most areas.  Rain will return on Saturday
and next week.  This rain is not expected to have a significant 
impact on river levels.

Lowland flooding and elevated river levels will continue through much
of next week in southwest Indiana and southeast Illinois.

Flooding will impact low river roads and agricultural fields.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

Today will see a lull in the rain as the cold front moves into
northern Kentucky. Then, a wave will lift the front back north
tonight and bring more widespread rain to the area Thursday. The
rain will be ending Thursday night as the front once again drops
south of the area.

Then, high pressure will bring a much needed break in the rain
Friday and Friday night, but more rain will return by Saturday ahead
of another front. Could see a brief mix with light snow Saturday
night into Sunday morning north.

Near normal temperatures the next few days will turn cooler by
Sunday.

.NEAR TERM /This Afternoon/...

Surface analysis late this morning shows an area of low pressure
stretching from west Central Ohio to Western Kentucky. Rain
showers were streaming NE near the Ohio River close to the low.
Water Vapor imagery shows a plume of tropical moisture streaming
from eastern Texas to Southern Illinois and Central Indiana.

Models suggest weak low will drift to the east late this
afternoon. However time heights and forecast soundings continue
to show saturated lower levels through the day. Aloft...best
forcing shifts farther south. Thus thus should just lead to a
mostly cloudy afternoon. HRRR suggests an area of shift pushing
northward into Central Indiana...off the main plume line. Given
this have kept some low chance pops across the south...however
confidence in that is low.

.SHORT TERM /Tonight through Friday night/...

PoPs and QPF will be the main focus tonight and Thursday.

Models in good agreement that the New Mexico trough will pivot east
and spin up a wave that will lift northeast toward the Ohio Valley
which will result in the cold front moving back north tonight and
Thursday. This combined with central Indiana being in the right rear
quad of a 160 plus knot upper jet should result in more widespread
moderate rain with brief heavy rain possible toward morning and all
day Thursday. Blend QPF was a little over an inch at most spots and
our southeastern counties are in the Day2 Excessive Rainfall
Outlook. That said, after coordinating with LMK and PAH and with the
low level jet over Kentucky the whole time and little problems thus
far, will hold on another Flood Watch. Likely to Cat blend Pops
tonight and Cat PoPS all day Thursday look good as do PoPs dropping
off from west to east Thursday overnight. Confidence is high on
trends.

Day 2 SPC Severe Weather Outlook has general thunder in parts of our
extreme southern tier of counties. However, Forecast Builder did not
pick up on it and adjacent offices are not carrying thunder, so left
it out.

High confidence we will see dry weather and some sunshine by Friday
as high pressure builds in.

With a reinforcing front moving across from the northwest, a return

.LONG TERM /Saturday through Tuesday/...

The presence of a strong upper low dropping southeast from James
Bay will maintain a cooler than normal regime as the Great Lakes
and Ohio Valley remain largely under the influence of an upper
level trough through the extended.

Low pressure will track into the Great Lakes on Saturday with a
cold front sweeping through the region. Expect scattered showers
focused Saturday afternoon and night as the boundary passes
through the area. Potential exists for a few wet snowflakes to mix
in prior to daybreak Sunday as the low level thermals cool.
Extended model guidance has now come into better agreement on any
lingering precipitation departing early Sunday as high pressure
builds into the area. Other than a small threat for a few showers
over far southern portions of the forecast area Sunday night as a
surface wave passes to the south...dry conditions will persist
through Monday under the influence of the high pressure. The
arrival of another frontal boundary will bring precipitation back
into central Indiana Monday night and Tuesday. Once again...snow
may mix in with the rain during the predawn hours Tuesday.

Overall...temperatures will remain chilly as the calendar flips to
April. Highs will primarily range from the mid 40s to mid 50s
through the period with the exception of Sunday. While Sunday will
be dry...cold advection in wake of the Saturday system will ensure
temperatures largely remain in the low and mid 40s. All signs
beyond the 7 day continue to show no sustained period of warmth
and arrival of typical Spring weather through the first 10 days of
April.

.AVIATION /Discussion for the 281500Z IND Taf update/...

IFR conditions are expected to continue with KIND on the north
side of the warm front to the south...in a favorable fog and
stratus location. CIGS below 1000FT will be expected along with
IFR visibilities the next few hours.

While there will be some improvements later today...poor flying
conditions will generally persist through much of the forecast
period.

Rain continued across the southeast half of central Indiana early
this morning but was beginning to transition to the south. Expect
the rain to shift south of all of the terminals by later this
morning as the cold front drops south of the Ohio River. While
some drier air will work into the boundary layer later
today...model soundings show a saturated layer lingering under a
shallow inversion below 2kft. This should result in stratus
remaining thick through the day with KLAF as the only possible
exception where a few breaks may develop.

Rain will expand back across the area late tonight as a surface
wave tracks along the boundary. Expect rain to become widespread
with ceilings and visibilities lowering to sub-IFR levels...
especially after 06Z. Winds will remain light and variable
throughout the forecast period.

Outlook: Showers will focus primarily over southern portions of
central Indiana today before expanding back across the entire area
late tonight.

Hazards: Minor flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas and
along creeks and streams. Visibilities reduced at times...especially
tonight.

Timing: Through tonight.

Discussion: Rain showers will focus over southern portions of central
Indiana today as a cold front settles south of the Ohio River. Low
pressure tacking along the boundary into the region tonight will
enable rain to overspread all of central Indiana after midnight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.

Outlook: Periodic chances for rain and the recent snow melt may
enable flooding to continue in low lying and poor drainage
areas...and along rivers and streams into this weekend.

Discussion: Several frontal systems and upper waves will bring
unsettled weather to central Indiana through the second half of this
week and into the weekend. Snow may briefly mix in with rain during
the early morning Friday...Sunday and Monday.
