...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers 
and/or creeks in Indiana...

  Big Walnut Creek...Driftwood River...East Fork White River...Eel 
  River...Wabash River...White River...Youngs Creek...


.Lowland river flooding is or will be developing in central and
southern Indiana this week in response to a combination of
snow melt from this past weekends snowfall and rain on Monday
throuh Tuesday night. Flood levels are expected to be lower than
flooding experienced in late February and early March.

Rainfall of just under an inch has fallen across portions of central
Indiana as of Tuesday morning with another 1 to 2 inches with locally
higher amounts expected to fall between Tuesday afternoon and
Thursday morning.  Additional rain is expected this weekend and early
next week which could prolong flooding.

Flooding will be highest along lower portions of the White and
Wabash River. Forecast crests will likely change over the next
several days as placement and amount of expected rain may be
different than predicted. Flooding will likely impact numerous river
roads, agricultural lands, and river parks.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  Donica Church Road, between Logan Bottom and the hill; Peerless 
  Road, by Mica Metals; Little Salt Creek Run; Stumphole Bridge Road,
  near Indiana State Road 450; Huron-Williams Road; Lawrenceport 
  Road; Rivervale Road and Earl Road.

...A Flood Warning continues for the following rivers and streams 
in Indiana...

  Big Walnut Creek...Driftwood River...East Fork White River...Eel

.Extensive river flooding will be develop in southern Indiana by the
weekend and continue into the first week of April.  Significant
flooding will occur in a few areas.  Flood crests will be a few feet
lower than those of late February and early March.  The worst
flooding will be along the White...East Fork White and the Wabash
Rivers in the Mount Carmel and New Harmony areas. 

Lesser flooding will occur along the Wabash River in western Indiana
and the White River in central Indiana.  Rivers will approach and/or
crest a few feet above flood stage.

Three fourths to over two inches of rain has fallen from late
Monday night through early Wednesday afternoon in much of central
and southern Indiana. The heaviest rain fell in western Indiana. An
additional 1 to 2 inches will fall in southern Indiana on Thursday.

Early Wednesday afternoon rivers were at bankfull levels and rising
in western...central and southern Indiana.  Small streams were near
crests in most areas.

.SYNOPSIS...

Warm Gulf moisture will be drawn into central Indiana the next few
days with a surface low. Widespread rainfall will create some
flooding issues as a result, especially across the southwest
quadrant. Rain chances will diminish a bit over the northern
counties tomorrow, but rain will quickly fill back in by Wednesday
night as an upper low then enters the area. This low will impact
the area through Thursday before a bit of a break at the end of
the week. After that, additional disturbances both in the upper
and lower levels will bring more chances for rain at times
throughout the extended period, too.

.NEAR TERM /Tonight/...
Issued at 930 PM EDT Tue Mar 27 2018

Cold front is about half way through the forecast area, with short
term model guidance suggesting this front will clear the far
southeast zones during the pre dawn hours of Wednesday.

Rainfall over the past couple of hours has diminished some,
however potential exists for rainfall to pick up again later
tonight as models suggest an area of stronger lift may move into
the area after about 280400Z.

Will keep PoPs high over the central and south zones for the rest
of the night, and cut them to chance over the far northwest zones.
Will keep the Flood headlines as is, with the potential for rain
to pick up again later tonight.

The main focus of the near term period will be the heavy rainfall
and flood threat.

Current radar mosaic shows widespread rainfall across central
Indiana with the heaviest bands infiltrating the southern
counties as warm, Gulf moisture continues to stream into the warm
sector of a surface low system. Rainfall is expected to remain
heavy into the night with a period of synoptic enhancement through
Wed 03Z per time cross sections as a cold front passes through
central Indiana. This front will eventually stall a bit overnight
across southeast Indiana, which increases the flood threat over
the southern counties. As a result, will continue with a flood
watch through tomorrow morning across the southwest two-thirds of
central Indiana. Precipitable water values are expected to range
from 1 to 1.25 inches through the night with a slight risk for
excessive rainfall over the southern half. Meanwhile, overnight
lows will generally range from the low 40s (NW) to low 50s (SE).

.SHORT TERM /Tomorrow through Friday/...

Issued at 226 PM EDT Tue Mar 27 2018

Rain will quickly taper off across the northwest third of central
Indiana tomorrow morning as the aforementioned cold front moves
farther southeast. However, rain chances will remain across the
southern counties as that front stalls a bit over southeast
Indiana. At that point, focus starts turning to the next upper low
upstream. The GFS and Euro start to differ a little bit in regard
to the timing of that low with the GFS the slower of the two.
Latest blended initialization seems to be trending toward the
faster Euro at this time though, and have no reason to
differentiate from it. So, rain chances are expected to start
increasing northward again by Wednesday night.

Increased forcing will raise rain chances for Thursday morning,
and latest blended initialization seemed a bit low. So, increased
QPF values a bit on Day 3. Broad upper troughing will keep rain in
the forecast into Thursday night, then quickly ending.

.LONG TERM /Friday Night Through Tuesday/...

ECMWF suggests mainly continued NW flow aloft through the
period...resulting in periodic cold front passing across the
forecast area along with associated rain chances. NW flow will
continue to result in temperature at or below seasonal normals.

First Chances for rain will be on Saturday and Saturday NIght as a
cold front arrives and then passes on Sunday morning. Ample
moisture and lower level convergence appear available for this
system as it arrives and passes...thus suggested pops by forecast
builder appear reasonable.

Surface high pressure then appears to settle across the Ohio
Valley through Tuesday...yet the ECMWF shows a weak short wave
passing aloft and forecast builder suggests pops. confidence here
not so high as west or northwest surface flow suggested may limit
moisture and lower levels appear anticyclonic. Thus have trended
Forecast builder pops lower here where possible.

.AVIATION /Discussion for the 280300Z KIND TAF Update/...

Cold front has recently passed the KIND terminal. A period of
ceilings at or below 005 AGL still possible for another couple of
hours based on upstream observations.

Previous discussion follows.

Cold front currently close to the KLAF terminal, with short term
model data suggesting this front will pass over the remaining
terminal by around 280300Z. Appears widespread IFR ceilings and
rain will continue this evening, with the rain diminishing after
280600Z. However, with the gradient relaxing later tonight, it
does appear the low ceilings will probably hang on most of the
night.

Areas of ceiling below 005 AGL possible for a period as well in
the immediate vicinity of the frontal zone.

Surface winds should become 330-360 degrees at 5-8 kts during the
course of the evening as the front passes by. These winds expected
to gradually veer around to 030-050 degrees by sunrise Wednesday.
