...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers 
and creeks in Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Mississinewa River...Muscatatuck River...
  Tippecanoe River...Wabash River...White River...Wildcat Creek...

.Extensive river flooding continues in western and southern Indiana
as Friday morning.  The crest on the Wabash River was
near Vincennes, the main crest on the White River
is approaching Petersburg, and the main crest on the East Fork White
River was near Shoals. Extensive river flooding will
continue in southern and western Indiana through the weekend.

Rainfall of around one inch from Friday will prolong high water. 
Smaller streams have crested or nearly crested from this new rain.

High water will continue to close numerous state and local roads and 
affect residential areas.  Flooding will continue into the second
week of March along the lower reaches of the Wabash and White Rivers
in southwest Indiana.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  Road, Lawrenceport Tunnelton Road, Pumphouse Road, Indiana Stote 
  Road 450, Stumphole Bridge Road, Mill Creek Road, Earl Road, Dillon
  Road, River Road and Rager Road.

* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by 
  Wednesday morning.
* At 14.9 feet...On April 24, 2011 extensive flooding in progress with
  SR 450 between Bedford and Shoals flooded in at least 3 locations.
  The deepest location was just east of Williams near the RR tressel.
  The next deepest was at Coxton Rd where backwater from the river 
  extensively flooded Salt Creek.  The last location was west of 
  Williams near Dillman Rd where backwater from the river closed the 
  road.  To reach Williams one must use Ridge Road.  Extensive 
  flooding of many local river roads in Lawrence Co.

  8, 2011 three county roads were closed because of East Fork White 
  River flooding in northern Dubois County.  Portersville Rd W was 
  closed in two locations...just east of CR 500W and between CR 650W 
  and CR 660W.  One other county road was flooded.

* Forecast...The river will rise to near 25.2 feet by this afternoon 
  then begin falling. The river will fall below flood stage Monday 
  morning.
* At 25.0 feet...A flood has exceeded this level each year since 
  January 2004, 6 out of 7 years since May 2002 and 10 times since 
  May 1990.  Of these 10 recent floods, 7 of them have exceeded the 
  25.8 foot mark with the January 2005 flood the largest since 
  January 1937.  Prior to May 1990, one must go back to March 1964 
  for a flood above 25 feet and back to May 1961 for a flood over 26 
  feet.  The greatest known flood to strike the Petersburg area 
  occurred in March 1913.

  350 N in the Black Rock Preserve Area, a distance of nearly 1.5 
  miles. High water affects Fort Ouiatenon area. All parks in the 
  West Lafayette and Lafayette areas are flooded.  High water almost 
  on North River Road.

  outskirts of Mount Carmel and in western Gibson County Indiana with
  some evacuations needed.  Flooding may cause some evacuations and 
  relocation of motorized land vehicles.  Numerous local river roads 
  are flooded.  Beall Woods State Park has 160-200 acres flooded. 
  High water backs up into Bon Pas Creek.  Browns, Illinois may be 
  surrounded by water if heavy local rain occurs.  River is 3 miles 
  wide at I-64.

.Extensive river flooding continues in western and southern Indiana
as of Friday evening.  The crest on the Wabash River was near
Vincennes, the main crest on the White River was near Petersburg, and
the main crest on the East Fork White River was past Shoals.
Extensive river flooding will continue in southern and western
Indiana through the weekend.

Rainfall of around one inch from earlier in the week will prolong
high water. Smaller streams have crested or nearly crested from this
new rain.

High water will continue to close numerous state and local roads and 
affect residential areas.  Flooding will continue into the second
week of March along the lower reaches of the Wabash and White Rivers
in southwest Indiana.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  feet.  The greatest known flood to strike the Petersburg area

  outskirts of Mount Carmel and in western Gibson County Indiana with
  some evacuations needed.  Flooding may cause some evacuations and 
  relocation of motorized land vehicles.  Numerous local river roads 
  are flooded.  Beall Woods State Park has 160-200 acres flooded. 
  High water backs up into Bon Pas Creek.  Browns, Illinois may be 
  surrounded by water if heavy local rain occurs.  River is 3 miles 
  wide at I-64.

High pressure will provide dry conditions this weekend, then a low
pressure system will bring precipitation chances to central Indiana
early to mid week next week. Temperatures will remain near normal to
above normal until mid week next week, then below normal readings
will move in.

.NEAR TERM.../Today/

Northerly flow between low pressure to the east and high pressure to
the west continues to bring in areas of stratocumulus into the area
early this morning. More clouds exist upstream in Michigan, so
expect this to continue into the daylight hours of the morning.
Could also see some cumulus develop this morning with cool air aloft.

Thus will go with partly cloudy for much of the north this morning
and mostly sunny south. As cold air aloft begins to move out of the
area this afternoon, lower clouds will diminish. Some high clouds
are possible though.

The model blend looks reasonable for high temperatures today given
expected conditions.

.SHORT TERM.../Tonight through Sunday night/

Models are close enough that the model blend initialization
was accepted for most items.

High pressure will keep the area dry and mostly clear through much
of the period. Clouds will increase Sunday night as a low pressure
system approaches the area from the west. There might be enough
forcing and moisture for some slight chance PoPs in the far west
late Sunday night, but confidence is low for these at the moment.

Trended toward the cooler MOS tonight for low temperatures with high
pressure moving in and clear skies. Otherwise generally stuck with
the blend for temperatures through the short term.

.LONG TERM /Monday through Friday/...

A slow-moving, vertically stacked low pressure system will impact
the area during the early to mid portion of the coming work week.
This will necessitate high pops Monday and Monday night with the
initial occluded front moving through the area, followed by a brief
break in the dry slot before additional precipitation associated
with the actual low pressure center itself moves into the area late
Tuesday into Wednesday. The bulk of this precipitation should be
liquid, although cannot rule out a few snowflakes mainly late
Tuesday night.

Consensus temperatures were reasonable and required no significant
changes.

VFR through the period.

A small amount of stratocumulus will cause IND/LAF to be scattered
around 1500-2000 feet this morning, but expect this to remain
scattered. These clouds will erode and only a bit of mid and high
cloud can be expected otherwise.

Winds through the period will be 10KT or less, generally north or
northwesterly.

No significant obstructions to visibility expected through the
period.

Outlook: Significant flooding expected along rivers, creeks, and
streams, mainly over portions of southwest Indiana.

Hazards: River flooding will affect some state and local roads, and
some residential areas.

Timing: River flooding through tonight and beyond.

Discussion: Flooding from recent rains will continue. Otherwise,
quiet weather is expected today and tonight.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Outlook: River flooding will continue along rivers, creeks, and
streams in some portions of central Indiana into next week.

Discussion: A frontal system will bring chances of rain to the area
from Monday through the middle of next week. Some wet snow is
possible at times during the cooler parts of the day, late Monday
night into Tuesday morning, and late Tuesday night in Wednesday
morning. Accumulations are not expected.
