...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers 
and/or creeks in Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Mississinewa River...Muscatatuck River...
  Tippecanoe River...Wabash River...White River...Wildcat Creek...



.Extensive river flooding continues in western and southern Indiana
as of late Thursday evening.  The crest on the Wabash River was
between Riverton and Vincennes, the main crest on the White River
is approaching Petersburg, and the main crest on the East Fork White
River was between Williams and Shoals. Extensive river flooding will
continue in southern and western Indiana through the weekend.

Rainfall from earlier today will prolong high water and cause renewed
rises on some area rivers and streams.

High water will continue to close numerous state and local roads and 
affect residential areas.  Flooding will continue into the second
week of March along the lower reaches of the Wabash and White Rivers
in southwest Indiana.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by tomorrow late morning and 
  continue to rise to near 14.0 feet by Saturday morning.  The river 
  will fall below flood stage by early Monday morning.
* At 14.0 feet...Pasture lands...agricultural lands and several County
  and State Roads begin to flood.  High water isolates a few river 
  cabins.  State Road 235 east of Medora and county roads near 
  Shields and Vallonia flood.  Roads that begin to flood include 258 
  east of Cortland...County Road 725 N just north of the gaging site 
  and Ewing Road near Brownstown.

* At 16.0 feet...Local residents in a few river cabins may have to 
  evacuate.  Backwater affects some residents along local streams.  
  Extensive flooding is in progress.  Dillman Road (CR 1000 W) 
  immediately north of Indiana 450 just west of Williams is flooded 
  by as much as 2 feet of water.

* Forecast...The river will rise to near 27.4 feet by after midnight 
  tomorrow then begin falling. The river will fall below flood stage 
  late Tuesday morning.
* At 28.0 feet...Beginning April 25, 2011 and continuing through May 
  8, 2011 three county roads were closed because of East Fork White 
  River flooding in northern Dubois County.  Portersville Rd W was 
  closed in two locations...just east of CR 500W and between CR 650W 
  and CR 660W.  One other county road was flooded.

  level on March 6 2011...flooding local roads behind the  levee.  
  Flooding not nearly as bad as June 2008 levee failure.  Flooding 
  was very close to one of the June 2008 failures.

* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 25.2 feet by 
  early Saturday morning then begin falling to 25.2 feet Saturday 
  morning.
* At 25.0 feet...A flood has exceeded this level each year since 
  January 2004, 6 out of 7 years since May 2002 and 10 times since 
  May 1990.  Of these 10 recent floods, 7 of them have exceeded the 
  25.8 foot mark with the January 2005 flood the largest since 
  January 1937.  Prior to May 1990, one must go back to March 1964 
  for a flood above 25 feet and back to May 1961 for a flood over 26 
  feet.  The greatest known flood to strike the Petersburg area 
  occurred in March 1913.

  Access Site flooded. Tippecanoe CR 950 W south of CR 75 S floods in
  several places from the Wabash Bottoms, Janssen Tract to Warren CR 
  350 N in the Black Rock Preserve Area, a distance of nearly 1.5 
  miles. High water affects Fort Ouiatenon area. All parks in the 
  West Lafayette and Lafayette areas are flooded.  High water almost 
  on North River Road.

* At 24.5 feet...On the north side of Vincennes near Old Terre Haute 
  Road, sawmill extensively floods including the concrete structures.
  Flood waters surround about 5 to 10 houses just west of road near 
  the Executive Inn.  Kelso Creek has extensive backwater.  Wabash 
  River is within a few inches of closing Oliphant Drive at Kelso 
  Creek.  A heavy local rain would cause severe flooding to shopping 
  center near Kelso Creek.  Fort Knox Road floods at Snapp Creek.  
  Park located on Fort Knox Road also floods.

  outskirts of Mount Carmel and in western Gibson County Indiana with
  some evacuations needed.  Flooding may cause some evacuations and 
  relocation of motorized land vehicles.  Numerous local river roads 
  are flooded.  Beall Woods State Park has 160-200 acres flooded. 
  High water backs up into Bon Pas Creek.  Browns, Illinois may be 
  surrounded by water if heavy local rain occurs.  River is 3 miles 
  wide at I-64.

  East Fork White River...Mississinewa River...Muscatatuck River...
  Tippecanoe River...Wabash River...White River...Wildcat Creek...

.Extensive river flooding continues in western and southern Indiana
as Friday morning.  The crest on the Wabash River was
near Vincennes, the main crest on the White River
is approaching Petersburg, and the main crest on the East Fork White
River was near Shoals. Extensive river flooding will
continue in southern and western Indiana through the weekend.

Rainfall of around one inch from Friday will prolong high water. 
Smaller streams have crested or nearly crested from this new rain.

High water will continue to close numerous state and local roads and 
affect residential areas.  Flooding will continue into the second
week of March along the lower reaches of the Wabash and White Rivers
in southwest Indiana.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go 
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and 
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river 
conditions.

  feet.  The greatest known flood to strike the Petersburg area

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Wabash River at Mount Carmel.

* At  9:45 AM Friday the stage was 29.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 29.9 feet by 
  Sunday morning then begin falling to 29.6 feet tomorrow morning.
* At 30.0 feet...Extensive flooding in progress on the northern 
  outskirts of Mount Carmel and in western Gibson County Indiana with
  some evacuations needed.  Flooding may cause some evacuations and 
  relocation of motorized land vehicles.  Numerous local river roads 
  are flooded.  Beall Woods State Park has 160-200 acres flooded. 
  High water backs up into Bon Pas Creek.  Browns, Illinois may be 
  surrounded by water if heavy local rain occurs.  River is 3 miles 
  wide at I-64.

.SYNOPSIS...

Dry but windy and colder conditions will prevail tonight in the
wake of a cold front. The area of low pressure that has been
producing rainfall today has pushed farther east while a large
area of high pressure strengthens over the Midwest. This area of
high pressure will result in dry conditions for the weekend.
Meanwhile, a weak warming trend will commence during the short
term period with highs reaching the low to mid 50s by Sunday.
Further out, the next system is progged to affect central Indiana
starting Monday morning. This is a rather potent system that will
linger through mid-week, producing some rain and snow mix on
Tuesday and Wednesday.

.NEAR TERM /Tonight/...

The main focus of the near term period will be the breezy
northwest winds and cooler temperatures.

A few rain showers continue to swirl over the northeastern
quadrant of central Indiana and will continue to do so into the
evening hours. Chances and intensity will taper off significantly
though over the next few hours as the area of low pressure
generating this rain moves farther east and wraparound moisture
becomes the only lingering precipitation.

So, focus then turns to the cooler air and breezy northwest winds
in the wake of the cold front associated with the aforementioned
low. Sustained wind speeds will range from 5 to 15 mph with gusts
up to 35 mph through late evening. Meanwhile, skies will clear
from west to east as high pressure strengthens over the area. This
decent radiational cooling combined with the breezy northwest
winds will dip temperatures into the upper 20s/low 30s tonight.

This is a high confidence forecast.

.SHORT TERM /Tomorrow through Sunday/...

A benign short term period will prevail as high pressure dominates
the forecast period. So, dry conditions can be expected for the
duration of the period. Meanwhile, temperatures will start out
near normal tomorrow, but a weak warming trend will commence
throughout the period, and highs will climb into the low to mid
50s by Sunday with lows in the 20s on Friday and Saturday nights.

This is a high confidence forecast.

.LONG TERM /Sunday Night through Thursday/...

Issued at 224 PM EST Thu Mar 1 2018

ECMWF suggests a strong ridge over Central Indiana On Sunday night
through Monday...which will lead to dry weather. Surface High
pressure east of Indiana will lead to warmer southerly flow on
monday.

On Monday Night through Thursday Morning...chances for
precipitation will return to Central Indiana. The ECMWF then
suggests a strong upper short wave and associated surface low
pushing through the region at slow place. Ample dynamics with this
system should lead to precipitation chances through the middle of
next week with favorable moisture also available.

The ECMWF shows the upper short wave departing as surface high
pressure is expected to arrive...leading to a return of dry
weather. Overall with no real surges of cold air...temperatures
look to be at or slightly above normal values this period.

.AVIATION /Discussion for 020300z TAF issuance/...

VFR already at KLAF should overspread the rest of the sites over the
next two hours. Wind gusts are dropping off and should be gone
within another hour or so. Previous discussion follows...

Improvements will come to the TAF sites from northwest to southeast
over the next few hours as clearing line moves in from Illinois.
KLAF ceilings should scatter shortly, so do not include any
restrictions there with issuance, and all other sites should improve
to VFR by 3z. Northwesterly wind gusts of 20 to 30 kts should
decrease during that period as well, so that by 3z or so gusts have
mostly subsided and winds are around 8 to 13 kts out of the
northwest with no gusts. These will further decrease throughout the
night to around 3 to 7 kts.

This hazardous weather outlook is for central Indiana.

.DAY ONE...Tonight.

Outlook: Significant flooding expected along rivers, creeks, and
streams, mainly over portions of southwest Indiana.

Breezy northwest winds gusting up to 35 mph.

Hazards: River flooding will affect some state and local roads, and
some residential areas.

Timing: River flooding through tonight. Strong northwest winds this
evening.

Discussion: In the wake of low pressure, northwest winds may gust to
around 35 mph at times this evening.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

Outlook: River flooding will continue along rivers, creeks, and
streams into the weekend.

Discussion: A frontal system will bring chances of rain to the area
from Monday through the middle of next week. Some wet snow is
possible at times during the cooler parts of the day, late Monday
night into Tuesday morning, and late Tuesday night in Wednesday
morning. Accumulations are not expected.
