River Bend and River Birch subdivisions off Highway 53 along the east bank of

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will move offshore today. Low pressure approaching
from the Gulf will bring significant rain Friday into Saturday
with up to three inches of rain possible. High pressure will
build in from the west early next week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
As of 1000 AM Thursday...More of the same for today. Any early
morning fog or frost has dissipated leaving sunshine filtered
through high clouds. Forecast on track with only minor tweaks.
Previous Discussion:
Today will have a similar appearance to yesterday with an
extensive layer of sun- dimming cirrostratus in place. Otherwise
the column remains very dry as PW values generally remain below
a quarter of an inch. Also similar to yesterday the boundary
layer will be very shallow due to the weakened insolation and
light winds. This likely means that the warmer temperature
guidance is a few degrees too high, as most locales will see a
high very close to 60. Warm advection strengthens tonight in the
low levels while a strengthening surface warm front develops
along the coast. Mid to low level cloud cover will increase
quite rapidly and some rain chances will creep into mainly
southern zones towards daybreak Friday.

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT/...
As of 345 AM Thursday...A 'Flash Flood Watch' is in effect for
both NC and SC zones for up to 3 inches on rain already sodden
soil, the bulk to fall late Friday through Saturday morning
associated with a strong warm front. The SPC has painted a
'marginal risk' of severe TSTMs attached to this feature as
atmospheric turning increases coincident with low-level
destabilization, and the passage of a surface wave Friday night.
We should see at least 40 kt S wind barbs at 1000 feet during
this time. The outcome will hinge of instability, inshore SSTs
deep into the 50s. This may lead to patchy bouts of coastal fog
if Td values elevate into the 60s off the Gulf Stream. Flooding
the primary threat this period, with isolated/embedded strong
TSTMs possible late Friday and early Saturday could aggravate
flooding with more intense rain- rates for a few hours. Mid-
level drying sharply curtails rain- rates by midday Saturday,
lingering -shra in moist west flow late Saturday.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
As of 300 PM Wednesday...Drying trend continues into Saturday
night with the main frontal boundary pushing offshore. With the
upper- level low still in the vicinity held onto a 20-30% PoP
Saturday night and Sunday. Dry then through the middle over next
week as the upper-level low pulls offshore and sfc high
pressure builds in from the west. High temps Monday and Tuesday
mainly in the 50s.

.AVIATION /12Z THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
As of 12Z...High confidence in VFR throughout the TAF period. A
couple of areas with brief VIS drops this morning due to some light
BR. Otherwise, light and variable winds with some high clouds will
remain in place throughout the day today. Warm air advection will
begin with easterly SFC winds developing after 00Z allowing the
column to moisten. Cloud cover will increase and CIGs will begin to
fall and continue to do so through the end of the forecast period.
Low-levels will saturate much quicker than the mid-levels which are
exceptionally dry at this time, so expect an OVC upper-level deck
with a few SCT clouds in the low-levels.
Extended Outlook...Expect MVFR/TEMPO IFR flight restrictions to
develop after the end of the forecast period for the majority of the
day on Friday due to rain and isolated thunderstorms. Much of Sat
will be MVFR becoming VFR. Sun VFR with some isolated SHRA and MVFR.
VFR for the beginning of next week.

NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
As of 1000 AM Thursday...A vast majority of the period will be
quiet with minimal wind and seas as high pressure slides off the
coast and a warm front develops offshore. The gradient and
winds will be increasing south and east of the warm front but
this area will likely stay outside of the forecast zones through
the period. Seas will build well offshore and a few higher
waves may start advecting into the region but it appears that
any deterioration in conditions will be slated for just after
the period.
SHORT TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT/...
As of 345 AM Thursday...'Advisory' flags are raised, as a broad
SE wind response into this evening provides excellent wave
growth, into advisory range by Friday daybreak offshore, and
building into Friday. Seas to peak quickly to 7-10 ft offshore
late Friday, remaining elevated through Saturday, in SSE waves
6-9 feet every 8-9 seconds. Rain will reduce visibility to
below 1/2 nm at times Friday night. Small craft are encouraged
to remain in port. Adding to the treachery, isolated severe
TSTMs possible Friday night, as a potent surface wave rides NE
up the NE SC and SE NC coast late.
LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
As of 300 PM Wednesday...Expect improving wx conditions by
Sunday as an upper-level low pressure system lifts northeast of
the area. The sfc pressure gradient relaxes ever so slightly,
but will still be conducive to 15 to 20 kt winds both days. Sub-
Small Craft Advisory conditions then for early to mid next
week.
