.SYNOPSIS FOR ARCTIC COAST...
A 1004 mb low moves north and east out of Siberia to be
located 150 nm west of Wrangel Island Friday evening track 
eastward on Saturday. A frontal boundary will sweep across the 
north slope bringing snow and gusty winds Friday evening and will 
push over the Beaufort Sea coast and into the Interior on 
Saturday. A 1040 mb high will build over the Bering sea and build 
northward over the weekend.

.SYNOPSIS FOR ARCTIC COAST...
A 1005 mb low 400 nm NW of Barrow will push east today and will be
400 nm N of Demarcation Point by early Sunday morning where it
will persist into Monday, weakening in place. A ridge of high
pressure will build north into the Chukchi Sea and eastward across
the north side of the Brooks Range on Sunday. This will set up a 
tight pressure gradient along the eastern Beaufort Sea coast.

.DISCUSSION...

Models in agreement through 48 hours then begin to diverge over
the weekend. A 543 dam high and ridge axis extending south over
the Yukon will weaken and slide south and east to be located over
the McKenzie Delta on Friday. A ridge building north over the
Bering Sea on Friday will begin to flatten out as a strong
shortwave moves east out of the southern Chukchi Sea onto the
western North Slope Friday and will move east to be located over
the central north slope Saturday and over the eastern North Slope
Saturday night and Sunday. The shortwave will continue to track
across the state and will bring a chance of snow for the northern
and central Interiors Saturday afternoon into Sunday.

Surface...A 1002 mb low moves north and east out of Siberia to be
located 150 nm west of Wrangel Island Friday evening and will
sweep a strong front east over the western north slope bringing
snow and gusty winds Friday evening and Saturday. A 1040 mb high
will build over the Bering sea over the weekend.

Arctic...Frontal boundary associated with the 1002 mb low
mentioned above will sweep across the western north slope
bringing snow and gusty winds Friday evening and Saturday.
Southwest winds 25 to 40 mph with higher gusts near Cape Lisburne
Friday afternoon into Saturday morning. Winter weather advisories
have been issued for zones 207 and 201 for snow and blowing snow
with reduced visibility less then one mile. The front moves east
through the day Saturday and will bring gusty winds and snow over
central and eastern portions of the North Slope. The west to
northwest winds in the lower levels of the atmosphere will favor
the development of a low level barrier jet along and north of the
eastern brooks range foothills and eastern coastal areas of the
North Slope Saturday night and Sunday. The barrier jet will
produce strong winds on the surface. Winter Weather headlines for
snow, blowing snow and greatly reduced visibilities will likely be
needed in these areas Saturday and Sunday. Will continue to
monitor.

Interior...Pockets of stratus over the interior will knock the
afternoon temperatures down a few degrees. Low to mid 30s for
highs through Friday. A shortwave will produce some snow for
the Interior Saturday evening into Sunday morning. 1 to 3 inches
of snow accumulation possible through Sunday morning.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...None.
