.DISCUSSION...
A series of shortwaves will drive much of the states weather
through Friday. A shortwave moving across the western Interior
this afternoon then across the Central Interior this evening
into Tuesday morning before exiting the Eastern Interior Tuesday
afternoon. A second shortwave will move across the west coast on
Tuesday bringing more snow to the west coast then push inland on
Wednesday and Thursday.

Surface...
A 1030 mb high will move south and strengthen tonight and will be
located 500 NM NE of Barrow by early Tuesday with a ridge
extending to the Beaufort Sea coast of Alaska. A weather front
will move across the west coast on Tuesday.

Arctic...Shortwave moving over the slope will produce periods of
snow through Tuesday. Winds will increase over the eastern portion
of the slope on Tuesday. This could bring down visibilities from
Deadhorse east Monday evening into Tuesday. Another weather front
will move across the west coast and bring heavy snow to the
western Brooks range late Tuesday night into Wednesday.

West coast...A weather front will bring snow, gusty winds and
blowing snow to the west coast beginning Tuesday morning. The
front will reach St. Lawrence Island and the Yukon Delta Tuesday
morning. Snow will spread north along the coast during the day on
Tuesday and into the western Interior Tuesday night. Locally heavy
snow is possible Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night along the
southern Seward Peninsula coast. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect
for zone 211 for around 6 inches of snow accumulation. This will
likely be upgraded to a warning by the morning package. Elsewhere,
snow and blowing snow associated with the front may cause
localized reductions in visibility. Light freezing rain may also
occur in zones 214 and 215. Winter weather advisories have been
issued beginning Tuesday morning into Tuesday evening. Snow
will spread inland on Wednesday. Upslope areas of the western
brooks range could pick up 6 to 12 inches before the snow tapers
off Wednesday evening.

Interior...Snow will continue across the interior this afternoon
into Tuesday morning. 3 to 6 inches of snow expected over much of
the central interior before the snow tapers off Tuesday afternoon.
Clouds and snow has mixed down some warmer air and temperatures
across the middle Tanana Valley have warmed up to the lower to mid
20s above at valley level. Higher amounts possible along the
upslope areas of the Alaska range. Winter weather advisories still
in effect for zones 221 222 223 and 224. Have added zones 225 and
226 for heavy snow as well. The next round of snow will be
Wednesday into Tuesday. Similar accumulations are possible at this
point.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...None.
