Thunderstorms will also be capable of producing torrential downpours this afternoon and evening, especially across northeast New Mexico where rain rates may exceed 1 inch per half hour in a few of the stronger storms. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday A few additional strong storms will be possible in eastern New Mexico Sunday evening with hail and gusty downburst winds possible. A cold front will surge through gaps and canyons within the central mountain chain Sunday night, leading to gusty winds of 45 to perhaps 50 mph in the Middle Rio Grande Valley including Albuquerque. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation may be required this afternoon and evening east of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the border with Texas and Oklahoma.
