The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 292
continues.
SUMMARY...The severe threat continues in WW 262 although a few areas
in northwestern Indiana and southwestern Lower Michigan will have a
decreased severe threat for the remainder of the afternoon.
DISCUSSION...Scattered multicell thunderstorms have increased across
much of WW 262, with a few linear segments organizing along and just
ahead of a surface trough across south-central Lower Michigan and
north-central Indiana. Moderate instability and 30-40 knot deep
shear will continue to sustain this activity ahead of the surface
trough, with a continued threat of 1-1.5" hail and gusty winds
approaching severe limits in/near the strongest storms. Behind the
surface trough, surface winds have shifted to the northwest along
with some decrease in instability, leading to doubt as to whether
convection west of this axis can attain severe thresholds. Some of
these areas of WW 292 may be cancelled before the originally
scheduled 00Z expiration time.
