.Heavy rainfall that fell across the river basin the past few days
will cause river levels to rise above flood stage.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Do not drive through flowing water. Nearly half of all flood
fatalities are vehicle related. As little as 6 inches of water may
cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Two feet of water will
carry most vehicles away.

.SHORT TERM...(Today and tonight)

High pressure over the region this morning will begin to slowly
lift out of the area through the day today. This will be aided by
another storm system that will take shape across the southern
plains and take aim on the Ozarks once again.
Temperatures and moisture will be on the rise today as southerly
winds bring Gulf moisture back towards the region, reaching
around 70. As the the storm system develops and moves across
northern Texas a warm front will begin to lift northward across
Arkansas.
The warm front will begin to move into the Ozarks later tonight
around or just before Midnight. This front will bring another
round of rain and scattered storms to the area.
.LONG TERM...(Wednesday through Monday)

Rain and scattered storms should be ongoing once again through
the day Wednesday and continue into early Thursday morning.
Current expectations with this system will be for an additional
1-3 inches of rainfall. There is some indication that the frontal
lift will act to enhance the QPF where CAPE is limited. This will
allow for some embedded thunderstorms which may produce rainfall
rates in excess of an inch per hour at times.
Despite the expectation of more stratiform rainfall with this
system, the antecedent saturated soil conditions, ongoing
flooding and terrain effects across the Ozarks would bring the
potential for flash flooding to occur. As a result a Flash Flood
Watch will be issued for all of the Missouri Ozarks and extreme
southeastern Kansas from 06z Wednesday through 12z Thursday.
The storm system will lift out of the region during the day
Thursday. A period of quiet and finally dry weather is then
expected from Thursday evening through the coming weekend.
Temperatures will be cool with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s
and the weather will be dry through Monday morning. A clipper type
system moves across mainly north central Missouri towards the
middle of next week but looks to quickly transition through the
area with light accumulations only noted in the models.

Pilots can expect VFR conditions at area terminals today and this
evening. Mid and high level clouds will be on the increase
ahead of the next storm system. Lowering ceilings and increasing

Wednesday morning.

While the more flashy rivers have crested, several of the slower responding rivers will continue their slow crest. Refer to the Missouri Department of Transportation travelers map for status updates on highways. Secondary roads will also remain impacted until runoff ceases and the larger basins drain. Moderate to locally heavy rain and a few thunderstorms will move back into the Ozarks late tonight. This may bring additional flooding and flash flooding to the region. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday. Moderate to locally heavy rain and a few thunderstorms will continue to impact the Ozarks Wednesday through Thursday morning leading to a renewed threat of flooding and flash flooding. One to three inches of rain is expected. The combination of wet ground, ongoing flooding and the Ozarks terrain may lead to flash flooding across parts of the Ozarks as much of this rainfall will go directly to runoff.
