...Showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain from Raeford and 
Fayetteville to Goldsboro...

At 608 AM EDT, showers and thunderstorms were producing locally 
heavy rainfall extending from central Hoke County east across 
Cumberland... southern Harnett... northern Sampson... and Wayne 
Counties. Rainfall rates of 1.5 to 2 inches per hour were occurring 
with the heaviest rain. The showers and thunderstorms were moving 
east at 20 mph. Locally heavy rain will occur through mid-morning 
across the region. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Locally heavy rain will produce minor flooding of creeks, streams, 
and areas of poor drainage. In addition, some street and road 
flooding may result. Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra 
caution to avoid hydroplaning.
