The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Person County in central North Carolina...
  Northern Granville County in central North Carolina...

* Until midnight EDT

* At 905 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated training thunderstorms that 
  were continuously redeveloping across the warned area. Two to 
  three inches of rain have already fallen this evening, and flash 
  flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that could experience flooding include...
  Oxford, Roxboro, Stovall, Bethel Hill, Bushy Fork, Moriah, Berea,
  Surl, Mayo Reservoir and Hyco Lake.

Additional rainfall amounts of one to two inches are possible 
through midnight tonight.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from the heavy rain will cause flash flooding of
creeks and streams, roads, low lying and poor drainage areas. Do not 
drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the road. When 
encountering flooded roads, turn around, don't drown.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT FOR
PERSON AND NORTHERN GRANVILLE COUNTIES...

At 946 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported several road flooding 
in the Roxboro area of Person county. Showers and thunderstorms are 
continuously redeveloping and moving across the area, which will 
produce additonal flooding over the warned area. Up to three inches 
of rain have already fallen, and an additional one to two inches are 
expected through 100 AM. 

Some locations that will experience flooding include...Oxford, 
Roxboro, Stovall, Bethel Hill, Bushy Fork, Moriah, Berea, Surl, Mayo 
Reservoir and Hyco Lake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding. Turn around, don't drown when encountering 
flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
