The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Davidson County in central North Carolina...
  Randolph County in central North Carolina...
  Southern Guilford County in central North Carolina...

* Until 245 AM EDT
  
* At 1155 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain have 
  already fallen from central Davidson County to northwestern 
  Randolph County. Additional thunderstorms to the west southwest, 
  from near Kannapolis and Lincolnton, will track northeastward and 
  repeat over the warned area. As such, flash flooding is expected 
  to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  High Point, Asheboro, Lexington, Randleman, North Carolina Zoo,
  Thomasville, Linwood, Archdale, Trinity and Pleasant Garden.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Excessive runoff from the heavy rain will cause flash flooding of
creeks and streams, roads, low lying and poor drainage areas. Do not
drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the road. Many roads
and intersections in the area will quickly flood. When encountering
flooded roads, turn around, don't drown.

...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 245 AM EDT FOR
DAVIDSON...RANDOLPH AND SOUTHERN GUILFORD COUNTIES...

At 140 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms that were
continuously redeveloping and producing flooding over the warned 
area. As much as two to three inches of rain has already fallen from 
south-central Davidson County, northeastward across the northwestern 
half of Randolph County; and this has resulted in some flooding 
already.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
High Point, Asheboro, Lexington, Randleman, North Carolina Zoo,
Thomasville, Linwood, Archdale, Trinity and Pleasant Garden.

Additional rainfall amounts of one to one and a half inches are 
possible in the warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
