...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 300 AM AST FOR
VIEQUES MUNICIPALITY...

At 217 AM AST, satellite imagery indicated heavy rain due to 
thunderstorms continuing over Vieques. An estimated 2 to 3 inches of 
rain has fallen with an additional 1 to 2 inches possible. Flash 
flooding is expected to continue.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Esperanza.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

The heavy rain has ended. Flooding is no longer expected to pose a 
threat. Please continue to use caution until water completely

.AVIATION...
Widespread showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop as
a tropical wave moves into the region overnight tonight and
through the day tomorrow. Heavy rainfall and MVFR conditions will
be possible as the wave will move in from east to west and that
is reflected in the current TAF forecast. Winds will be variable
and gusty with any strong convection that develops near terminals.
Will continue to update Tans with any TEMPO groups needed as
timing becomes more apparent.

SHORT TERM...
Showers and thunderstorms continue to develop and persist over the
western side of Puerto Rico. Heavy rainfall is falling over already
saturated ground leading to flooding in some areas.

Tropical moisture associated with a tropical wave is moving across
the Leeward Islands. Winds will become east southeasterly. Locally
heavy rainfall is expected and additional flash flooding is
possible. The main surge of moisture looks to move in early Saturday
morning and continuing through Sunday. A Flash Flood Watch continues
for the entire area. Additional rainfall leading to flooding would
hinder recovery efforts across the entire region.

There is a high risk of rip currents through Saturday morning along
the northern Atlantic coastline of Puerto Rico. The high risk of
rip currents will continue for Saint Croix through Saturday
evening.

LONG TERM...
As the tropical wave moves westward away from Puerto
Rico tropical moisture will remain in place. Heavy rainfall
potential will continue through early next week. This will inhibit
recovery efforts on the islands. The rest of the week,looks like a
return to climatological conditions with easterly flow with rain
chances around 30 to 40 percent. Light surface winds will turn to
more southeasterly towards the end of next week.

Temperatures will be near or below normal through much of the
forecast period with increased cloud cover and precip chances.

MARINE...
Easterly winds will turn south easterly across the area through
the weekend. Northerly swells continue to push into the northern
sections of the islands where small craft will need to exercise
caution. Showers and thunderstorms will become numerous beginning
early Saturday morning with winds and seas locally higher in and
around stronger convection.

HYDROLOGY...
A tropical wave will bring showers and thunderstorms
across the area spreading from east to west. Rainfall amounts of 2
to 4 inches with locally much higher amounts are possible each day.
PWAT values will be near to above 2 inches through Monday. Already
saturated ground and most of the rivers and small streams are
running above or well above normal levels, therefore there is a high
risk of river and small stream flooding as well as mudslides in
areas of steep terrain. Urban flooding is also likely across low-
lying areas as well as poor drainage areas where water pumps are not
working at full capacity.

A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for the Guajataca Dam for
potentially life-threatening flash flooding downstream on Rio
Guajataca.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for anticipated heavy rainfall
through the weekend. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches with locally
higher amounts are likely. This will exacerbate the current situation
in Puerto Rico and lead to additional flooding concerns.

.Rip Currents...There is a high risk of rip currents for most of the
northern and northwestern beaches of Puerto Rico.

.Spotter information statement...

Widespread spotter activation is not anticipated, however individual
spotter are encouraged to report flooding and rip currents to the
National Weather Service in San Juan.

At 1148 PM AST, a strong thunderstorm was located 11 miles southwest
of Culebra, moving north at 10 mph.

Winds in excess of 30 mph are possible with this storm in addition
to heavy downpours and cloud to ground lightning.

Locations impacted include...
Culebra and Esperanza.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

Vieques, Humacao, Trujillo Alto, Carolina, Cidra, San Lorenzo,
Juncos, Loiza, Yabucoa, Rio Grande, Caguas, Naguabo and Aguas Buenas.

del suroeste de Culebra, moviendose hacia el norte a 10 mph.

Vientos en exceso de 30 mph, rayos, y lluvias torrenciales son
posibles con estas tormentas.

Lugares que seran afectados incluyen...
Culebra y Esperanza.

Lluvias torrenciales tambien estan ocurriendo con estas tormentas, y
podrian causar inundaciones localizdas. No intente conducir su
vehiculo a traves de carreteras inundadas.
