The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Eastern Jackson County in south central Indiana...
Southwestern Jennings County in southeastern Indiana...
* Until 1030 PM EDT
* At 735 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Doppler radar estimated that
1.5 to 2 inches of rain had fallen over eastern Jackson and
western Jennings Counties since 6 pm. With an additional 1 to 1.5
inches possible through 9 pm...flash flooding is expected to begin
shortly.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Seymour, Crothersville, Cortland and Paris Crossing.
This includes Interstate 65 between mile markers 37 and 56.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.
