...A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 415 AM CST FOR CENTRAL
HARRIS COUNTY...
    
At 406 AM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located over East Houston, or near Greater Fifth Ward, moving
northeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado. 

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. 

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
         shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage 
         to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree damage is 
         likely. 

Locations impacted include...
El Dorado / Oates Prairie, Houston Gardens, Eastex / Jensen Area,
East Houston, Settegast, East Little York / Homestead, Hunterwood,
Kashmere Gardens, Pleasantville Area and Denver Harbor / Port
Houston.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors or in
a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect
yourself from flying debris.

Motorists should not take shelter under highway overpasses. If you
cannot safely drive away from the tornado, as a last resort, either
park your vehicle and stay put, or abandon your vehicle and lie down
in a low lying area and protect yourself from flying debris.

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado.
Therefore the warning has been allowed to expire.

.AVIATION...
Will be keeping with a fairly messy forecast as the unsettled wx
pattern remains in place. Moisture moving in from the Gulf along
with disturbances tracking across from the SW being the main is-
sues. Sea fog starting to develop at this time and GLS should be
dealing with this through the early morning...and possibly again
early Wednesday morning. Have timed TAFS with a round of TSRA at
to around sunrise...then another during the afternoon/early eve-
ning hours. We are also seeing a smattering of fog/VIS issues at
sites not yet affected by the approaching activity. 41

.PREV DISCUSSION... /ISSUED 916 PM CST Tue Jan 17 2017/

Just minor adjustments to the forecast for the update. Shallow
frontal boundary has stalled inland and not expecting it to move
much overnight...and just slowly back north on Wed. Nearly steady
temps expected for most.

Combination of Gulf moisture overrunning this boundary along w/
the addition of impulses and Pacific moisture associated with the
messy sw flow aloft will aid in increasing precip coverage moving
into the region overnight. Rain totals will eventually add up w/
nearly steady light/moderate rains. Will however need to keep eye
on heavier cells/bands that manage to develop as training precip
is expected.

Between roughly I-10 and the coast, in the vicinity where the
frontal boundary is parked, we'll also need to keep an eye for
some isolated strong/severe cells later tonight into Wed.

Beaches and offshore areas may be left out of much excitement in
the short term, but will have to suffice with some thickening sea
fog again. May eventually need to throw out some dense fog advsys. 47

ON THE LOOKOUT FOR LOCALIZED HIGHER AMOUNTS THAT MAY PRODUCE SOME
MINOR STREET FLOODING TYPE PROBLEMS. THERE COULD BE AN ISOLATED
STRONG TO SEVERE STORM GENERALLY BETWEEN INTERSTATE 10 AND THE
COAST WHERE A STALLED FRONTAL BOUNDARY IS SITUATED.

AREAS OF DENSE SEA FOG CAN BE EXPECTED NEAR THE COAST.
