western North Carolina.

A weak wave of low pressure will cross the region today, lifting a
frontal boundary northward briefly, before the front drops back
south as the wave exits to the east tonight. A few thunderstorms may
develop along and south of the boundary this afternoon through this
evening. The main threats will be heavy downpours, gusty winds, and
occasional cloud-to-ground lightning.

A weak wave of low pressure will cross the region today, lifting a
frontal boundary northward briefly, before the front drops back
south as the wave exits to the east tonight. A few thunderstorms are
expected to develop along and south of the boundary this afternoon
through this evening. The main threats will be heavy downpours, gusty
winds, and cloud-to-ground lightning; however, an isolated severe
storm producing damaging wind gusts will be possible, especially
in areas south of I-40.

AND NORTHEASTERN PICKENS COUNTIES UNTIL 1230 PM EST...

At 1139 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms along a
line extending from 7 miles southwest of Columbus to 8 miles
northeast of Pickens, and moving east at 35 mph.

Locations to be impacted include...
Greenville Downtown, Spartanburg, Greenville Eastside, Greer,
Mauldin, Taylors, Berea, Five Forks, Boiling Springs SC and Travelers
Rest.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph will be possible in these areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall may flood areas with poor drainage, such as
ditches and underpasses. Avoid these areas and do not cross flooded
roads. Water levels of small streams may also rise rapidly. Seek
higher ground if threatened by flood waters.
