This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northeast Georgia, piedmont
North Carolina, western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina.

.DAY ONE...Tonight.

Scattered strong thunderstorms are still expected to develop across
the region into the evening hours. The main threat with any
thunderstorms will be cloud to ground lightning, locally heavy
rainfall, and briefly gusty winds. A few of the thunderstorms may
become severe, capable of producing hail as large as
quarter and isolated damaging wind gusts.

Another round of showers and thunderstorms will arrive from the west
across the southern Appalachians overnight. If severe thunderstorms
develop across central and eastern Tennessee late this evening, some
of these could survive into the North Carolina mountains overnight.
Damaging wind gusts will be the primary threat with any of those
storms.

miles north of Abbeville, or 4 miles south of Due West, moving
northeast at 35 mph.

EDT...

At 1010 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 13
miles northeast of Hiawassee, or 9 miles southeast of Nantahala Lake,
moving east at 25 mph.

Locations to be impacted include...
Franklin, Highlands, Ellijay, Scaly Mountain, Otto, Rainbow Springs,
Cullasaja and Wayah Bald.

Wind gusts up to 45 mph and dime size hail will be possible in these
areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dime size hail can cause considerable damage to vehicles. Consider
