A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 1 AM CST for the Rio Grande Plains and Brush Country. Main threats are damaging winds and isolated large hail. In addition, locally heavy rain may produce some localized flooding. Moderate Risk Rip Currents along Gulf Facing Beaches tonight. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday Chances for thunderstorms continue through Monday as a powerful upper level storm system impacts South Texas with rain chances decreasing from west to east through late Monday afternoon. WEBB...LA SALLE...MCMULLEN AND WEST CENTRAL JIM WELLS COUNTIES...
At 923 PM CST, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located
along a line extending from 8 miles southeast of Dilley to 6 miles
northwest of Fort Ewell Site to 10 miles southwest of Freer to 13
miles northwest of Realitos. Movement was northeast at 35 mph.
Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail are possible with these
storms.
Locations impacted include...
San Diego, Cotulla, Freer, Benavides, Tilden, Seven Sisters, Loma
Alta, Fowlerton, Fort Ewell Site, Gardendale, Zella, Millett, Los
Angeles and Rosita.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
