The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
  Western Fairfield County in central South Carolina...
  East central Newberry County in central South Carolina...

* Until 400 PM EDT
    
* At 327 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
  was located 8 miles northeast of Prosperity, or 12 miles east of 
  Newberry. This was the mile-marker 82 area of interstate 26. 
  Movement was northeast at 40 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado. 

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. 

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. 
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree 
           damage is likely. 

* This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
  western Fairfield and east central Newberry Counties, including the
  following locations: Pomaria, Peak and Little Mountain.

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a

NEWBERRY COUNTIES WILL EXPIRE AT 400 PM EDT...
                
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado.
Therefore the warning will be allowed to expire.

A tornado watch remains in effect until 600 PM EDT for central South
Carolina. A tornado watch also remains in effect until 600 PM EDT for
central South Carolina.

Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning still remains in effect for
portions of Fairfield and Newbeery counties.
