Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI 1154 AM CDT SAT OCT 8 2016 .UPDATE... Temperatures are on track to warm into the upper 50s and lower 60s today with plenty of sunshine. We are watching an area of high clouds over southern MN that will slowly make their way into southern WI later this afternoon and into the overnight hours. These are associated with warm air advection in the 850-700mb frontogenesis. && .AVIATION/18Z TAFS/... VFR conditions are expected through the TAF period. Northwest winds will gust 15-20kt from mid morning through about mid afternoon across southeast Wisconsin, lower toward KMSN. Light winds are expected tonight. Some mid and high level clouds will stream across the area later today and tonight. && .MARINE... Northwest winds will gust to around 20 kts from mid morning through about mid afternoon. Small craft should exercise caution today. This offshore wind will result in the highest waves out toward open water. Winds and waves will be lower on Sunday. Look for increasing southerly winds by Monday. && .PREV DISCUSSION... /Issued 335 AM CDT SAT OCT 8 2016/ TODAY AND TONIGHT...Forecast confidence is high. Surface high pressure will gradually drift east as a weak trof of low pressure pushes in from the west. The atmosphere is dry and the associated warm air advection will only generate some mid and high clouds that will begin to spread into the area this morning. These clouds peak tonight, which will help keep temps from getting too cold. We should still get down in the upper 30s to lower 40s, possibly a few mid 30s up around Sauk and Marquette counties if the clouds clear out there just before sunrise. Those chillier temps could result in some patchy frost. SUNDAY AND MONDAY...Forecast Confidence...Medium Mostly sunny skies and near normal temps are expected Sunday under high pressure. Southerly winds will develop for Monday behind the departing high, allowing for a return of milder temperatures. Will probably be more clouds due to the warm advection along with a bit of a breeze, but overall looks like a pleasant day. MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY...Forecast Confidence...Medium Increasing moisture and temps aloft may kick off a few showers Monday night into Tuesday morning, so kept some low end pops going. Best forcing and moisture comes as the cold front and trailing main shortwave move through later Tuesday night into Wednesday, so have highest pops then. Left thunder mention out for now given very limited instability with this system per latest models. Temps Tuesday will be above normal ahead of the front. The front is then progged to move through later Tue night into early Wed, bringing a good shot of cooler air. May be a situation similar to yesterday morning, where temps cool through the early morning hours and then struggle to recover much the remainder of the day as cooler temps aloft move in. THURSDAY AND FRIDAY...Forecast Confidence...Medium High pressure will bring quiet weather Thursday and Friday, with temperatures a couple/few degrees below normal. AVIATION/12Z TAFS/...
