.DISCUSSION...
Models are in decent agreement through about 60 hours. Upper level
low northeast of Wrangel Island will continue to move southeast
towards Prudhoe Bay and then move rapidly north and then slowly
off to the northeast.

The upper low will bring strong cold advection the Arctic Slope
beginning late Saturday afternoon. This will certainly be cold
enough to produce snow showers over the coastal and inland areas
of the Arctic Slope.

A flat top ridge will develop over the northern area of the state
from about the Brooks Range south and then expand northeastward to
the Eastern half of the Brooks Range while another moves eastward
out of the Kamchatka Peninsula to be positioned in the Bering
Strait by Tuesday. The cold air infiltrates the Eastern Interior
Sunday and Monday but the building upper level ridge over the
Northern part of the state will usher in much warmer sir from the
south by Monday afternoon over the Central Interior and then
pushes to the North Slope by Monday evening as well.

Winds are increasing along the Arctic Coast this morning and will
likely reach minimum advisory level today and continue through
tonight. The strongest winds will be located with the cold
advection. Hence High Surf Advisories have been issued for most of
the Arctic Coast.
