.DISCUSSION...

aloft...
A long wave trough extending from the pole south over mainland AK
will move slowly east over NW Canada by Fri. A ridge over Eastern
Russia will build east over Alaska late in the week. Cool and wet
conditions under the long wave trough through wednesday then will
trend drier under the ridge later in the week.

surface... A 1029 mb high pressure over wrangel island will
persist through wednesday. Weak surface low pressure from the
yukon delta across the central interior and into Canada this
morning along a surface boundary. These weak lows will move to the
east and weaken by tuesday evening.

Interior...Southwest flow aloft continues and rain is still
persisting over the middle tanana valley this morning. Up to .75
inches of rain has fallen so far across the central and southern
Interiors. Rain will start to diminish for the central interior
this afternoon but still continue over the southern and eastern
interiors through Wednesday morning. The snow level will drop to
2000 ft along the surface boundary and to 1000 ft or less north
of the front by early wed morning. Rain could mix with or change
to snow over higher terrain in the alaska range overnight tonight.

West coast... North northeast winds 35 to 45 mph will continue
across the bering strait and northwest alaska this morning. Wind
advisory is still in effect for the Noatak valley this morning.
Winds will decrease some this afternoon.

North slope...Another front will drop down from the arctic and
move across barrow tuesday evening then push east on wednesday.
Rain and snow showers expected with this boundary. West winds
will increase to 30-35 kt on wednesday near Barter island with the
front.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...None.

FIRE WEATHER...
none.

HYDROLOGY...
Expect .50-.75 inch of rain across southern interior and Norton
Sound through Tue. This will cause slight rises on rivers in those
areas next few days

ANOTHER STRONG COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE FROM THE BEAUFORT
SEA TO THE ARCTIC COAST TONIGHT...AND PASS OVER THE BROOKS RANGE
ON WEDNESDAY. ANOTHER ROUND OF ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL ACCOMPANY
THE FRONT...BEGINNING OVER THE REGION WEDNESDAY MORNING AND
CONTINUING THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT. SNOW WILL BEGIN TO TAPER OFF
EARLY THURSDAY MORNING. SNOWFALL TOTALS FROM THIS SYSTEM AT THIS
TIME LOOK TO RANGE BETWEEN 3 TO 6 INCHES BY THURSDAY MORNING...WITH
LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. WINDS WILL INCREASE AFTER
MIDNIGHT TONIGHT OUT OF THE SOUTHWEST BETWEEN 10 TO 20 MPH...WITH
LOCALIZED BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW ALSO POSSIBLE.

TRAVEL WILL BECOME DIFFICULT FOR PEOPLE PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITY
OR TRAVELING ON THE DALTON HIGHWAY IN THE NORTHEASTERN BROOKS
RANGE WEDNESDAY AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT. VISIBILITY WILL ALSO BECOME
SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED AT TIMES.
