...The National Weather Service in North Platte has issued a Flood 
Warning for the following rivers in Nebraska...

  South Platte River near Roscoe affecting Deuel and Keith Counties.
  
  South Platte River at North Platte affecting Lincoln County.
  
.The combination of seasonal snow melt in the upper South
Platte River Basin and recent heavy precipitation over western
Nebraska and northeast Colorado will lead to flooding on the South
Platte River this week. At this time some uncertainty still
remains with the forecast as key upstream gauges in northeast
Colorado have yet to crest. However...latest projections continue to
highlight an increasing threat for significant flooding of the South
Platte River in southwest Nebraska...potentially near September 2013
flood levels. Current forecast brings the South Platte River at
Roscoe above flood stage Tuesday morning...and crest late Friday
into Saturday. Further upstream at North Platte the river will rise
above flood stage late Thursday or Friday...and crest Saturday or
Sunday. 

River stage forecasts will be closely monitored and updated once more
upstream river data becomes available. Persons that live in
vulnerable areas along the South Platte River should pay close
attention to flood forecasts in the coming days and be prepared to
take proper action.

covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your

* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.

* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by 05/16 04:00 and continue to 
  rise to near 14.0 feet by 5/17 12:00. 
* Impact...At 14.0 feet...Moderate flood stage. Flooding of yards and 
  basements may occur along the South Platte River. Water may flow 
  over Buffalo Bill Road just north of the South Platte River Bridge.
  Water may continue to back up in storm drains in the City of North 
  Platte.
* Flood history...This crest compares to a previous crest of 14.0 feet
  on Jun 3 1935.

.The combination of heavy rain in northeast Colorado over the past
few days and snow melt from the mountains will result in flooding
along the South Platte River and the Platte River beginning May 12
and continuing into early next week. Although there is uncertainty in
the expectation...current indications are that significant flooding
is likely in Keith and Lincoln counties of southwest Nebraska.
Levels on the South Platte may approach the levels that were attained
in September of 2013. At Roscoe...the flood stage of 9.0 feet will be
reached the morning of Tuesday May 12 and is expected to crest at
12.0 feet Saturday evening which is above the moderate flood stage of
11.0 feet. At North Platte...the stage will reach the flood stage of
13.0 feet Saturday afternoon and the moderate flood stage of 14.0
feet early Monday morning. Flood stage is expected on the Platte
River at Brady Friday afternoon.

trended downward as there appears that there is a lesser impact
from runoff from the heavy rain event.  However...uncertainty remains
with the forecast as key uspstream gauges across northeast Colorado
have yet to crest. Regardless...the latest projections continue to
suggest flooding is expected along the South Platte River affecting
Deuel...Keith...and Lincoln Counties.

River stage forecasts will be closely monitored and updated as
upstream river data becomes available. Persons that live in
vulnerable areas along the Platte River from Deuel County east
through Lincoln County should pay close attention to flood forecasts
in the coming days and be prepared to take proper action as
additional rainfall is possible mid-week and again this weekend.

.Flooding continues on portions of the South Platte and Platte Rivers
in southwest Nebraska...however river levels have begun to steadily
recede over the last 24 to 48 hours. Latest forecast has flows on
the river slowly falling or holding steady through the end of the
week. This will keep the South Platter River at Roscoe above flood
stage...with downstream gauges in Lincoln County holding near or
just below flood stage levels. Additional rises are expected on the
South Platte and Platte Rivers in southwest Nebraska by early next
week as another round of moderate to heavy rainfall is occurring
upstream in the South Platte River basin at this time.

PTS OF 10 TO 12C BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON ACROSS THE REGION. THIS
SEEMS REASONABLE GIVEN THE FACT THAT THE CURRENT COLD FRONT ONLY
MAKES IT INTO CENTRAL TEXAS AND NOT INTO THE GULF. THIS WILL ALLOW
FOR A RAPID NORTHWARD RETURN OF QUALITY GULF MOISTURE INTO THE
PLAINS.

DURING THIS TIME...A LARGE UPPER TROUGH WILL BE TAKING SHAPE ALONG
THE WEST COAST. A LEAD SHORTWAVE WILL EJECT NORTHEAST THROUGH THE

FLOODING CONCERNS THIS WEEK ON THE SOUTH PLATTE RIVER IN SOUTHWEST
NEBRASKA INCLUDING DEUEL...KEITH...AND LINCOLN COUNTIES. THE SOUTH
PLATTE RIVER IS ALREADY EXPERIENCING ABOVE NORMAL FLOWS DUE TO SNOW
MELT RUNOFF IN THE FRONT RANGE MOUNTAINS OF COLORADO. LATEST RIVER
FORECAST PROJECTIONS SHOW AN INCREASING THREAT FOR SIGNIFICANT
FLOODING LATER THIS WEEK AND INTO THE WEEKEND. HOWEVER...FORECAST
UNCERTAINTY STILL REMAINS WITH RESPECT TO THE AMOUNT OF OBSERVED
PRECIPITATION THAT FELL INTO RIVER BASIN IN NORTHEAST COLORADO AND
WESTERN NEBRASKA...AND THE DEGREE TO WHICH IT WILL IMPACT UPSTREAM
FLOWS ON THE SOUTH PLATTE RIVER. RIVER FORECASTS WILL BE CLOSELY
