.Recent heavy rainfall has caused significant runoff into streams and
rivers which will cause flooding in some areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

All persons with interests along the river should monitor the latest
forecasts...and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect
life and property.

The latest stage data was furnished in cooperation with the United 
States Geological Survey.

  The Euharlee Creek near Rockmart.
* From this morning until further notice.
* At 830 AM Thursday the stage was 9.2 feet...and rising.
* Flood stage is 9 feet.
* At 9 feet...Minor flooding begins along the creek upstream and 
  downstream from the gage on Church Street. Portions of the Wayside 
  Park will have water a foot or two deep. Sections of the sidewalk 
  along Water Street will begin to flood. The water reaches the 
  bottom of The Silver Comet Trail foot bridge just downstream from 
  West Elm Street.

* At 18 feet...Minor flooding continues in the woodlands and fields
  along the river generally east of Canton near the Interstate 575 
  bridge. A rock landing and grassy lot behind the pump station off 
  of Riverstone Parkway begins to flood. Flooding also occurs in 
  areas behind the businesses on Old Ball Ground Highway and Keith 
  Drive.

  The Etowah River near Canton.
* From late this afternoon until Friday evening.
* At 12 PM Thursday the stage was 15.3 feet...and rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 16 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by late this afternoon and 
  continue to rise to near 18.2 feet by tomorrow morning.The river 
  will fall below flood stage by tomorrow afternoon.
* At 18 feet...Minor flooding expands into the woodlands and fields
  along the river upstream and downstream from the gage by the 
  Walaska Street bridge. Large portions of recreational areas such as
  Boling Park behind the Cherokee County High School...the Cherokee 
  County Fairgrounds and the Etowah River Greenway at Heritage Park 
  will be flooded with up to two feet of water. The parking lot at 
  Boling Park will be under one foot of water.  Portions of the Mill 
  Industrial Way Road begin to flood.

  downstream from the gage off Georgia Highway 52. The flooding 
  completely covers the yards behind townhouses and homes on 
  Riverside Drive. Flood waters are in the crawl spaces of the homes 
  and the water level reaches the foundations of the townhouses. Also
  portions of the Maple Village Mobile Homes Park flood near the 
  merger of the river and Owltown Creek.

* At 14 feet...Major flooding expands and affects several homes and
  some businesses in Ellijay. Some evacuations may be needed. The 
  Spring Ellijay Plant will begin to flood.  Portions of the Pilgrims
  Pride Processing Plant parking lot will be under 3 feet of water. 
  The American Legion Post 82 building and the Georgia Power 
  Substation next to the Post are flooded with around 3 feet of 
  water.  Most of the Harold Hefner River Park is flooded with a few 
  feet of water.

  and downstream from Buford Highway or Georgia Highway 13. Large 
  portions of the backyards of residential homes on Victory Drive...
  Dunwoody Place and Converse Drive will be flooded with around two 
  feet of water. A portion of the Sun Tan Center parking lot near the
  gage begins to flood. This height combined with the flow on South 
  Fork Peachtree Creek will likely produce significant flooding 
  further downstream on Peachtree Creek in Fulton County.

  of residential homes on Noble Drive...Helen Drive and Kay Lane will
  be flooded with around one foot of water. This height combined with
  the flow on North Fork Peachtree Creek will likely produce flooding
  further downstream on Peachtree Creek in Fulton County.

  afternoon.
* At 19 feet...Significant flooding expands upstream and downstream
  from Northside Drive. Parking lots near the section of Peachtree 
  Road...Fairhaven Circle and Peachtree Memorial Drive begin to 
  flood. Woodward Way is completely flooded with several feet of 
  water and the water is around 1 foot deep in some homes that have 
  not been elevated. Sections of Sagamore Drive...Hanover West 
  Drive...and Peachtree Battle Avenue and Circle will flood with 1 to
  4 feet of water. Around 1 foot of water will be in some homes.

  agricultural lands east of Macon and well downstream will be under 
  1 to 5 feet of water.

  downstream from a gage located by a dirt boat ramp on the west side
  of Avant Mine off Adams Road in Washington County. The water will 
  be around two feet deep around an elevated USGS gage house. The 
  dirt road by the boat ramp will begin to flood.

* At 15 feet...Flood stage is reached. Minor flooding of woodlands 
  and fields begin upstream and downstream from the gage on the 
  Georgia Highway 72 bridge. A sand dredge operation on the left bank
  near the gage will become affected. A portion of Roy Wood Road will
  be flooded with a few feet of water and the dirt parking lot of the
  Broad River Outpost for Canoes and Kayaks will begin to flood. A 
  wooden pier and portions of the yard behind an assisted living home
  off of Roy Wood Road will be flooded.

THERE. INSTABILITIES ARE NOT THAT GREAT THIS MORNING BUT SHEAR
VALUES ARE STILL FAIRLY HIGH. THIS IS FAIRLY EVIDENT AS EVERY TIME
ONE OF THE STRONGER STORMS MOVES OVER AN OBSERVING SITE...WINDS
START BLOWING IN THE 10-15KT RANGE WITH GUST TO 22KT. MODELS
CONTINUE TO STAY IN GOOD AGREEMENT THROUGH THE SHORT TERM. AS THE
COLD FRONT APPROACHES THE TENNESSEE VALLEY TODAY...INSTABILITY WILL
INCREASE AGAIN ALONG WITH SHEAR AND WE WILL SEE ANOTHER ROUND OF
THUNDER WITH A CONTINUED RISK OF SEVERE STORMS. THIS RISK OF SEVERE

MOVES BACK SOUTH INTO THE SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS LATE WEEKEND INTO
THE FIRST OF THE WEEK AS UPPER TROUGH MOVES ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES
AND STRONG UPPER SOUTHWEST LOW DEVELOPS. WE REMAIN IN A MOIST AND
SOMEWHAT UNSTABLE AIR MASS WITH BEST POPS MAINLY NORTH. SURFACE
LOW MOVING NORTHEAST FROM THE WESTERN GULF INTO THE MS VALLEY
SHOULD PUSH THE FRONT INTO THE STATE BY TUESDAY. GFS AND ECMWF
