Upper air data this morning and moisture channel imagery depicts upper trough from the Lake Superior low center southward to AL, now moving to the east. The result is the the surface low north of the Great Lakes will continue to move off to the northeast with zonal flow aloft. A secondary cold front is then forecast to rotate around the low, pushing through the region Saturday, with some overrunning pcpn developing over the southeast half of the area Saturday night. Moisture and lift is minor, and so only light chance pops for the snow has been added to the grids. High pressure then pushes into the region for Sunday, keeping it dry. LONG TERM...Monday through Friday. Another shortwave will move over the northern portion of IL in the west northwest flow on Monday and Monday night...triggering a chance of light snow over the northern sections. Cold dry high pressure will remain over the region for the rest of week. Goetsch && .AVIATION... ISSUED 1128 AM CST Fri Feb 21 2014 Pressure gradient weakens through the remainder of the day and winds should slowly diminish as surface low over Lake Superior continues to gradually push away. Weak fast moving lobes of vorticity rotating around deep James Bay upper low will bring brief periods of cigs and possible -SN to area TAFs late tonight into Saturday morning. As might be expected, timing between models differ substainially. Will broadbrush at this point with a PROB group for the I-74 terminals.
