AREAS AFFECTED...CNTRL LA...SERN TX

CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 137...138...

VALID 040424Z - 040600Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH
137...138...CONTINUES.

POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGING WINDS AND MARGINALLY SEVERE HAIL SHOULD
REMAIN RATHER LOCALIZED WITHIN AN ARCING QLCS THAT EXTENDED FROM E/W
ACROSS NRN LA AND NE/SW IN SERN TX. OBSERVED WIND GUSTS ON THE
LEADING EDGE HAVE FALLEN TO AOB 20 KT WITH SLOWLY DIMINISHING
MID-LEVEL REFLECTIVITY CORES AND CLOUD TOP WARMING NOTED.

DESPITE THE PRESENCE OF 40-50 KT EFFECTIVE SHEAR ALONG THE TX
PORTION OF THE LINE...THE DEEP-LAYER SHEAR VECTOR HAS REMAINED
ORIENTED PARALLEL TO THE CONVECTIVE OUTFLOW. THE LACK OF A LLJ IN
THE WARM SECTOR SHOULD CONTINUE TO MINIMIZE INFLOW OF A MORE RICHLY
BUOYANT GULF COAST AIR MASS AND MAINTAIN ONLY WEAK CONVERGENCE ALONG
THE OUTFLOW. WITH LITTLE APPRECIABLE REASONING FOR THE LINE TO
UNDERGO SUBSTANTIAL INTENSIFICATION...AN EXTENSION OR NEW WW
ISSUANCE BEYOND THE 06Z SCHEDULED EXPIRATION OF WW 137 APPEARS
UNLIKELY ATTM.

FARTHER EAST IN LA...THE E/W-ORIENTED PORTION OF THE QLCS CONTINUES
TO PROGRESS S/SEWD AND MAY EVENTUALLY MERGE WITH THE SLOWER-MOVING
MCS OVER SERN LA/SRN MS. THIS TYPE OF ORIENTATION AMIDST 1.5 IN PW
VALUES COULD RESULT IN EXTENSIVE TRAINING CONVECTION CAPABLE OF
PRODUCING RATHER HEAVY RAINFALL RATES /MOST LIKELY OVER CNTRL TO
SERN LA/.
