THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HONOLULU HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  NORTH AND EAST HAWAII INCLUDING WINDWARD KOHALA HAMAKUA HILO AND
  PUNA

* UNTIL 630 PM HST

* AT 324 PM HST...AUTOMATED RAIN GUAGES INDICATED VERY HEAVY RAIN
  OVER HILO.  RADAR SHOWS THE AREA OF HEAVY RAIN WAS NEARLY 
  STATIONARY.

* LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE AKAKA FALLS S.P....MOUNTAIN
  VIEW...HILO...HONOMU...KEAAU...PAPAIKOU AND PEPEEKEO

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF STREAMS
AND COULD ALSO TRIGGER ROCK AND MUDSLIDES IN STEEP TERRAIN.

WHEN MOTORISTS TRY CROSSING FLOODED ROADWAYS.

A CONVERGENCE ZONE IS NORTH OF AMERICAN SAMOA. A NORTHEAST TO
SOUTHWEST ORIENTED CLOUD BAND IS OVER SAVAII AND UPOLU. ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORMS ARE IN THE BAND TO THE SOUTHWEST OF THESE ISLANDS. NO
MAJOR CHANGES ARE EXPECTED OVER THE AREA OVER THE NEXT 48 HOURS. THE
