000 WGUS55 KSLC 240403 FFWSLC UTC025-241200- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UT 1000 PM MDT SAT AUG 23 2003 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SALT LAKE CITY HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR... CENTRAL KANE COUNTY IN UTAH ON THE PARIA RIVER * UNTIL 0600 AM MDT EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM TORRENTIAL RAINS THIS EVENING...THAT CAUSED FLOODING IN THE TOWN OF TROPIC ALONG THE PARIA RIVER...WILL CONTINUE TO FLOW SOUTH THROUGH KANE COUNTY TONIGHT. DUE THE EXTREME AMOUNTS OF RAIN THAT FELL IN THE HEAD WATERS OF THE PARIA AND THE CREEKS THAT FLOW INTO IT NEAR CANNONVILLE...FLOOD WATERS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN HIGH AND REACH U.S. ROUTE 89 AND THE ARIZONA BORDER AROUND DAYBREAK SUNDAY MORNING. PERSONS IN AND AROUND THE PARIA RIVER DRAINAGE SHOULD REMAIN ALERT FOR ANY SUDDEN RISES ON THE RIVER THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING. IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY. RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY.
