000 WGUS55 KSLC 232229 FFWSLC UTC017-240100- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UT 420 PM MDT SAT AUG 23 2003 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SALT LAKE CITY HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR... WEST CENTRAL GARFIELD COUNTY IN UTAH * UNTIL 700 PM MDT * AT 414 PM MDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY HEAVY RAIN 6 MILES NORTHWEST OF PANGUITCH NEAR LITTLE CREAK PEAK AND MOVING NORTHEAST AT 10-15 MPH EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM AND PREVIOUS STORMS ACROSS NORTHWEST GARFIELD COUNTY WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF CREEKS AND STREAMS...ROADS AND ROADSIDE CULVERTS. THE CREEKS IN CONCERN ARE THREE MILE CREEK...BEAR CREEK...AND THE SEVIER RIVER FLOWING THROUGH THE CIRCLEVILLE CANYON. THE HEAVY RAINS COULD ALSO TRIGGER ROCK AND MUDSLIDES IN STEEP TERRAIN. EARLIER SPOTTER REPORTS INDICATED WATER OVER SOME ROADS ALONG WITH ROCK DEBRIS IN THIS AREA OF NORTHWEST GARFIELD COUNTY. THIS WARNING INCLUDES THE SAME WARNING AREA AS EARLIER AS WELL AS EXPANDED SOUTHWARD TOWARD PANGUITCH. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING. IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY. RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS SWIFTLY FLOWING WATERS OR WATERS OF UNKNOWN DEPTH BY FOOT OR BY AUTOMOBILE. IF YOUR VEHICLE STALLS, ABANDON IT IMMEDIATELY AND SEEK HIGHER GROUND.
