000 WGUS55 KSLC 230213 FFWSLC UTC053-230400- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UT 813 PM MDT FRI AUG 22 2003 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SALT LAKE CITY HAS EXTENDED THE * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR... SOUTH CENTRAL WASHINGTON COUNTY IN UTAH INCLUDING THE CITY OF ST GEORGE * UNTIL 1000 PM MDT FLOODING ON FORT PIERCE WASH IN ST. GEORGE WAS REPORTED AT 800 PM MDT. HIGH FLOWS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE IN THE WASH IN THE ST. GEORGE AREA THROUGH 1000 PM ALTHOUGH THE WATER LEVELS SHOULD BEGIN TO DECREASE BEFORE THAT. THIS WILL ALSO CAUSE A RAPID RISE OF THREE TO FOUR FEET ON THE VIRGIN RIVER BETWEEN ST. GEORGE AND THE ARIZONA BORDER. THE HIGHER FLOWS ON THE VIRGIN RIVER SHOULD REACH THE ARIZONA BORDER BY 1000 PM. ALTHOUGH THIS IS NOT EXPECTED TO CAUSE FLOODING IN THE RIVER CHANNEL...IT WOULD BE HAZARDOUS FOR ANYONE IN THE DRAINAGE. ANYONE IN OR NEAR THE VIRGIN RIVER DRAINAGE FROM ST. GEORGE TO THE ARIZONA BORDER SHOULD BE PREPARED TO MOVE TO HIGH GROUND RAPIDLY. TO REPORT SEVERE WEATHER HAVE THE NEAREST LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY RELAY YOUR REPORT TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST OFFICE IN SALT LAKE CITY.
