000 WGUS53 KICT 090613 FFWICT KSC015-091100- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WICHITA KS 107 AM CDT THU OCT 9 2003 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WICHITA HAS EXTENDED THE * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR... BUTLER COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS * UNTIL 600 AM CDT * AT 100 AM CDT...LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED FLOODING STILL OCCURRING ACROSS THE COUNTY. FOUR MILE CREEK, JUST SOUTH OF ANDOVER, WAS REPORTED OUT OF ITS BANKS WITH HIGH WATER APPROACHING BUTLER ROAD. SEVERAL HOMES HAD WATER IN THEM FROM THE HIGH RISING CREEK. NUMEROUS ROADS REMAINED BARRICADED ACROSS THE COUNTY. ALTHOUGH RADAR SHOWED THAT THE HEAVY RAINS WERE GRADUALLY ENDING ACROSS THE COUNTY, EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THE EARLIER STORMS WILL CONTINUE TO CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...URBAN AREAS...ROADS AND AREAS WITH POOR DRAINAGE. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT...WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED... MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.
