SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

   CENTRAL ARKANSAS                           

EFFECTIVE THIS MONDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 400 PM UNTIL 1000
PM CST.

HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70
MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS ALONG AND 85 STATUTE MILES
EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 55 MILES SOUTHWEST OF PINE BLUFF
ARKANSAS TO 70 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF LITTLE ROCK ARKANSAS.

AHEAD OF APPROACHING SHORTWAVE TROUGH OVERRIDES WEAKLY CAPPED WARM
SECTOR.  STORMS SHOULD INITIATE ALONG AND AHEAD OF COLD FRONT AND
SURFACE LOW.  STRONG SHEAR WILL SUPPORT SUPERCELLS...AND A TORNADO
OR TWO COULD OCCUR NEAR THE LOW CENTER...THOUGH PRIMARY THREATS
WILL BE LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS.
