THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WICHITA HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  ELLSWORTH COUNTY IN KANSAS
  RICE COUNTY IN KANSAS

* UNTIL 700 AM CDT

* AT 1238 AM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS   
PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS ELLSWORTH AND RICE COUNTIES. 
THESE STORMS ARE MOVING SLOWLY EAST AT 10 MPH. DOPPLER RADAR  
ESTIMATED BETWEEN TWO AND THREE INCHES OF RAIN HAD FALLEN ACROSS 
ELLSWORTH COUNTY DURING THE PAST HOUR. ANOTHER ONE TO TWO INCHES OF 
RAIN CAN BE EXPECTED BEFORE ENDING LATE TONIGHT. 

RICE COUNTY EOC HAS ALREADY REPORTED NUMEROUS ROAD CLOSURES 
INCLUDING AVENUE T ON K14 HIGHWAY, AVENUE V ON 20TH ROAD, AND EAST 
MAIN STREET IN LYONS. ANOTHER BATCH OF THUNDERSTORMS MOVING EAST AT 
20 MPH WILL MOVE INTO RICE COUNTY DURING THE NEXT HOUR OR SO AND 
AGGREVATE THE SITUATION EVEN MORE. 

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT...WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED...
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.

REPEATING...A FLASH FLOOD WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR ELLSWORTH AND 
RICE COUNTIES UNTIL 700 AM CDT.
