EASTERN OKLAHOMA/NORTHWEST ARKANSAS FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TULSA OK 935 PM CDT THU JUL 12 2001 COLD FRONT IS SLOWLY SAGGING SOUTH ACROSS NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA AND EXTENDS FROM NEAR JAY TO STILLWATER AT 9 PM. THIS FRONT WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE ONLY VERY SLOWLY SOUTH OVERNIGHT AND WILL NOT MAKE IT THROUGH THE ENTIRE AREA UNTIL DURING THE DAY FRIDAY. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE BEGINNING TO DEVELOP ACROSS ARKANSAS AND FAR SOUTHERN MISSOURI AND SHOULD BUILD WEST WITH TIME INTO NORTHWEST ARKANSAS AND PARTS OF NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA AS WEAK NOCTURNAL LOW LEVEL JET SETS UP AND ENHANCES LIFT NORTH OF THE SURFACE BOUNDARY AND ALONG THE 850 MILLIBAR BOUNDARY. WITH THE BOUNDARIES BEING FURTHER NORTH THAN EARLIER EXPECTED...THE BEST RAIN CHANCES OVERNIGHT WILL ALSO BE FURTHER NORTH. IT WILL LIKELY BE TOWARDS MORNING BEFORE ANY CHANCE OF RAIN WILL BE SEEN IN THE MCALESTER AREA AND THE RED RIVER COUNTIES WILL LIKELY REMAIN DRY OVERNIGHT. WILL ADJUST FIRST PERIOD POPS AND TEMPERATURES TO REFLECT THIS SLOWER EVOLUTION. WILL LEAVE LATER PERIODS ALONE FOR NOW AS IT LOOKS LIKE RAIN SHOULD BE GONE BY LATE FRIDAY MOST EVERYWHERE.
