ANOTHER ROUND OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CAN BE EXPECTED THIS
EVENING...OVER SOUTH-CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST ARIZONA. MEANWHILE...
DRIER AND MORE STABLE AIR OVER SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA WILL LIMIT
EVENING STORMS TO THE LOWER COLORADO RIVER VALLEY. . UPPER LEVEL
HIGH PRESSURE PUSHING IN FROM THE WEST WILL LEAD TO HIGHER DAYTIME
TEMPERATURES BUT LESS HUMIDITY. DRIER AIR EXPECTED TO INFILTRATE
MOST OF ARIZONA BY THURSDAY...FOR DECREASING CHANCES OF DAILY
THUNDERSTORMS. BY EARLY NEXT WEEK...THE HIGH WILL SHIFT TOWARD THE
EAST AND WILL ALLOW MOISTURE AND THUNDERSTORMS TO RETURN TO THE
FORECAST AREA.

ACTIVE LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING SHAPING UP FOR THE ARIZONA PORTION
OF THE CWA TODAY. SO FAR...VERY STRONG-LOOKING STORMS SEEM TO BE
STRUGGLING TO PRODUCE SEVERE CRITERIA. BUT WITH ABUNDANT MOISTURE
AND STRONGER THAN NORMAL NORTHEASTERLY STEERING FLOW...EXPECT TO SEE
STORMS PRIMARILY IN ZONES 21...22...23...AND 24 DURING THE NEXT
SEVERAL HOURS. SPC WILL BE ISSUING A WATCH BOX FROM THE LOWER
COLORADO RIVER VALLEY WESTWARD TO WESTERN MARICOPA COUNTY. PHOENIX
METRO LEFT OUT OF WATCH DUE TO TIMING SINCE STORMS ARE ALREADY HERE
AND WILL END SOONER.

ON WEDNESDAY...STEERING FLOW REMAINS NORTHEASTERLY...BUT MOISTURE IS
ADVERTISED TO RETREAT SOUTHEASTWARD. HOWEVER...THERE SHOULD BE
ENOUGH MOISTURE AROUND TO GET STORMS OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN WHICH
CAN THEN PROPAGATE INTO THE LOWER ELEVATIONS OF SOUTH-CENTRAL
ARIZONA. BELIEVE AVN TOO QUICK WITH DRYING AND HAS SHOWN A BIAS IN
THAT REGARD. BY THURSDAY...DRYING SHOULD LEAD TO A LOW GRADE MONSOON
DAY. WITH THE DRYING WILL COME HIGHER TEMPERATURES.

IN THE EXTENDED...12Z AVN SHOWS MORE OF A SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW
INFLUENCING OUR CWA THAN 00Z MRF. THUS PUSHED BACK RETURN OF STORM
CHANCE FOR MANY OF THE ZONES. ECMWF SUPPORTS THIS AS WELL.
