SOUTHEAST ARIZONA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TUCSON AZ 230 PM MST SUN AUG 6 2000 SYNOPSIS...HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT WILL REMAIN TO THE NORTH INTO NEXT WEEK. THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP AND SPREAD THROUGH THE AREA DAILY. WITH THE DEEPER MOISTURE AND AN IMPULSE MOVING IN FROM THE EAST...SOME OF THE STORMS WILL BE STRONG AND ACCOMPANIED BY HEAVY RAINFALL. DISCUSSION...TSTMS FIRING ON THE RIM AND ISOLATED EASTERN MOUNTAINS. MUCH LESS TSTM ACTIVITY THAN YESTERDAY AT THIS TIME IN THE CWA. AFTERNOON HEATING HAS BEEN GOOD AND WITH BETTER MOISTURE PROFILE EXPECT TSTMS TO GAIN MOMEMTUM LATE AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT. MID LEVEL THETA-E RIDGE TO THE EAST WILL HELP ALONG WITH THE CYCLONIC CIRCULATION AROUND THE TROF TO THE EAST. WILL KEEP STRONG SCATTERED POPS FOR TONIGHT. ON MONDAY MODELS SHOWING LOWER LEVELS BECOMING MORE MOIST WITH PRECIP WATER VALUES NEAR 1.5 INCHES. CONVECTIVE DEBRIS CLOUDS SHOULD HANG AROUND INTO MON MORNING AGAIN AND WITH MORE MOISTURE MAY PERSIST LONGER INTO THE DAY. THIS COMBINED WITH THE LOWER LEVEL MOISTURE INCREASE SHOULD HOLD TEMPS DOWN ANOTHER NOTCH MON. ETA AND TO LESSER EXTENT NGM/AVN BRING REMNANTS OF EASTERN TROF INTO SE AZ MON IN FORM OF A VORT MAX WHICH SHOULD ADD DYNAMICS TO THE AREA. VORT REMAINS OVER AREA ALONG WITH FAVORABLE MID LEVEL THETA-E RIDGE AND ABUNDANT MOISTURE TUES SO WILL KEEP HIGHER POPS GOING THRU TUES. LITTLE LET UP IN THE EXTENDED AS THE HIGH SHIFTS NORTHWARD AND OPENS AREA UP TO EASTERLY TROFS...WILL KEEP CURRENT FORECAST FOR SCATTERED AFTN/EVE TSTMS GOING.
