AFFECTING NORTHWEST CORNER OF ARKANSAS...WITH OTHER STORMS TO THE WEST
OF FORECAST AREA POISED TO MOVE EAST.

EXTREME INSTABILITY (5000 J/KG ON 00Z OUN SOUNDING)...FAVORABLE LOW
LEVEL WIND PROFILE...AND MODERATELY STRONG MID LEVEL FLOW WILL LEAD TO
NUMEROUS CLUSTERS OF STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS TONIGHT.

...TORNADO WATCH IN EFFECT UNTIL 100 AM FOR PORTIONS OF EASTERN
   OKLAHOMA...

.SYNOPSIS...
A BROAD AREA OF SURFACE LOW PRESSURE WAS LOCATED IN THE TEXAS
PANHANDLE AND FAR WESTERN KANSAS THIS EVENING WITH SOUTHERLY WINDS
OUT AHEAD OF THE LOW ACROSS OKLAHOMA AND ARKANSAS.  A FRONTAL
BOUNDARY WAS ALSO LOCATED OVER SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA...EXTENDING
NORTHEAST THROUGH PONCA CITY. THE FRONT WILL SERVE AS A FOCUSING
MECHANISM FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT THIS EVENING AND
TONIGHT AS AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE MOVES INTO CENTRAL OKLAHOMA.

.PRIMARY HAZARD...
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS HAVE ALREADY DEVELOPED OVER EAST-CENTRAL
OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST ARKANSAS.  THIS ACTIVITY WILL CONTINUE
THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING HOURS.  SEVERE CONVECTION IN NORTH TEXAS
AND SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA HAS ALSO DEVELOPED. THUNDERSTORMS ARE
FORECAST TO MOVE INTO EASTERN OKLAHOMA BY LATE EVENING...SPREADING
INTO NORTHWEST ARKANSAS AROUND MIDNIGHT. GIVEN THE AMOUNT OF
INSTABILITY AND FAVORABLE WIND PROFILES...LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING
WINDS WILL BE THE MAIN THREAT.  HOWEVER...AN ISOLATED TORNADO WILL
ALSO BE POSSIBLE.

.DISCUSSION...
ATMOSPHERE REMAINS MODERATELY UNSTABLE THIS EVENING ACROSS THE
REGION WITH CAPE VALUES AROUND 3500 J/KG.  AREA SOUNDINGS INDICATE
VERY LITTLE CAP TO INHIBIT ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT.
SHEAR PROFILES REMAIN FAVORABLE FOR SUPERCELL STORMS THROUGH THE
EVENING HOURS.  CONVECTION WILL LIKELY BECOME MORE LINEAR IN NATURE
AS IT MOVES INTO FAR SECTIONS OF EASTERN OKLAHOMA AND NORTHWEST
ARKANSAS LATER TONIGHT.
