THIS MORNING'S SOUNDING AT MHX HAD A 500 MB TEMP OF -12 DEG C. THIS AGREES WELL WITH THE MESO ETA...WHICH SHOWS -14 DEG C THIS AFTERNOON. AS THE SUN HEATS THE SFC...THIS WILL CREATE A STEEP LAPSE RATE AND LEAD TO CU DEVELOPMENT AND SCATTERED SHOWERS...POSSIBLY EVEN A THUNDERSTORM THIS AFTERNOON. HOWEVER...ATMOSPHERE IS NOT VERY MOIST...ONLY .90 PW. CURRENT AREA OF LIGHT SHOWERS MOVING ACROSS RALEIGH SEEMS TO BE WEAKENING...HOWEVER...SHOWER AREA MAY EXPAND A BIT AS THEY MOVE EAST INTO CLEAR AREAS CURRENTLY RECEIVING GOOD INSOLATION.
