COASTAL BEND FORECAST DISCUSSION...UPDATED NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CORPUS CHRISTI TX 622 PM CDT SUN JUL 23 2000 HAVE UPDATED THE ZFP AND ISSUED AN SPS FOR THE LINE OF TSRAS MOVING SOUTH TOWARDS THE CWFA. UPPED THE POPS SIGNIFICANTLY FOR THE NRN ZONES GIVEN THE LATEST SATL/RADAR TRENDS. CURRENT THINKING IS THAT THE NERN ZONES WL BE MOST AFFECTED AND SO WENT WITH THE HIGHEST POPS HERE. MSAS WAS INDICATING IMPRESSIVE MOISTURE CONVERGENCE ACROSS THE NERN ZONES AS WELL. AREAS FURTHER SOUTH HAVE LESS MOISTURE AND ARE MORE STABLE AND SO POPS ARE MUCH LESS ACCORDINGLY. THE LATEST RUC SHOWS THETAE DIFFERENCES ACROSS THE NERN ZONES OF OVER 20K. THUS SOME STORMS MAY CONTAIN SOME STRONG WIND GUSTS. MB .CRP...NONE.

ADEQUATE AMOUNTS OF MOISTURE AND AN UNSTABLE AIRMASS...HAVE TRIGGERED SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST TEXAS THIS SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THESE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE FORMED IN THE VICINITY OF A SLOW MOVING COLD FRONT. THIS COLD FRONT WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE SOUTH OVERNIGHT AND WILL HELP TO PROVIDE SOUTH TEXAS WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. RAINFALL AMOUNTS WITHIN THIS REGION WILL AVERAGE BETWEEN ONE-HALF AND ONE INCH WITH ISOLATED TOTALS UP TO TWO INCHES POSSIBLE. FURTHER SOUTH ACROSS AN AREA STRETCHING FROM LAREDO TO CORPUS CHRISTI...THE CHANCES FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL DIMINISH SIGNIFICANTLY AND THE THREAT FOR STRONG WINDS WILL BE NOT AS GREAT EITHER.
