TXZ021>044-012000- AREA THUNDERSTORM OUTLOOK NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LUBBOCK TX 1141 AM CDT SAT MAY 1 1999 THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE SOUTH PLAINS...LOW ROLLING PLAINS AND EXTREME SOUTHERN PANHANDLE FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND INTO TONIGHT. LOW LEVEL MOISTURE WILL REMAIN ENTRENCHED ACROSS THE AREA THROUGH TONIGHT. LATE THIS MORNING...A DRYLINE EXTENDED FROM THE EASTERN PLAINS OF NEW MEXICO SOUTH INTO THE GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS. AS AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE MOVES INTO NORTHERN NEW MEXICO THIS EVENING...THE DRYLINE SHOULD PUSH INTO THE WESTERN SOUTH PLAINS. STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY DEVELOP ACROSS SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO THIS AFTERNOON AND MOVE INTO THE WESTERN SOUTH PLAINS BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON. THE THREAT FOR SEVERE WEATHER WILL SHIFT SLOWLY EAST DURING THE NIGHT HOURS WITH THE MAIN THREAT OF SEVERE WEATHER AFTER MIDNIGHT BEING ALONG AND EAST OF THE CAPROCK. LARGE HAIL WILL BE THE MAIN THREAT WITH THESE THUNDERSTORMS. HOWEVER...WIND PROFILES WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR ISOLATED TORNADOES... MAINLY ACROSS THE WESTERN SOUTH PLAINS. RAINFALL AMOUNTS IN THE STRONGEST THUNDERSTORMS WILL RANGE FROM ONE TO TWO INCHES PER HOUR BRINGING THE THREAT OF LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING.
