DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXTENDING FROM NEW ORLEANS TO METAIRIE TO LAFITTE. THIS LINE OF STORMS WAS MOVING TO THE EAST AT 40 MPH AND HAS A HISTORY OF PRODUCING LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS. * THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT THE COMMUNITIES OF CHALMETTE AND VIOLET. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH...DESTRUCTIVE HAIL...DEADLY LIGHTNING...AND VERY HEAVY RAIN.
